sapper756 Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 Spurs v Real Madrid Redknapp set to go all-out attack in pursuit of 'miracle' http://img.skysports.com/11/04/496x259/111676808redmour_2581994.jpgTottenham need to pull off one of the greatest comebacks in UEFA Champions League history if they are to overturn a 4-0 deficit against Real Madrid. Harry Redknapp's men travelled to the Santiago Bernabeu for last week's quarter-final first leg in high spirits, but their European dream turned into a nightmare on a disastrous night. The damage was partly self-inflicted after Peter Crouch's dismissal for two reckless challenges left them playing with 10 men for 75 minutes, but Real were still impressively ruthless in taking advantage. Former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor again tormented Tottenham with two goals, before late strikes from Angel di Maria and Cristiano Ronaldo effectively extinguished the Londoners' hopes. The Spurs camp has remained surprisingly positive in the build-up to Wednesday's return match at White Hart Lane, though, with players and manager alike saying they believe in miracles. IS A MIRACLE POSSIBLE?

sapper756 Posted April 14, 2011 Author Report Posted April 14, 2011 Mission impossible for Spurs Gomes howler allows Ronaldo to wrap up win and book Barca date http://img.skysports.com/11/04/496x259/Heurelho-Gomes-trys-to-stop-Cristiano-Ronaldo_2585252.jpg Tottenham bowed out of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, with a 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid bringing their European adventure to an end. It was always going to be a lot to ask for Harry Redknapp's men to overturn a 4-0 first leg deficit in their quarter-final tie, and ultimately that challenge proved too great. A howler from Heurelho Gomes put the final nail in their coffin, with the Brazilian keeper somehow spilling an ambitious 30-yard shot from Cristiano Ronaldo over the line. Spurs did, however, prove that they are capable of mixing it with the continent's best with 11 men on the field, following Peter Crouch's costly dismissal at Santiago Bernabeu. They could have led at the interval had decisions gone their way, with three penalty shouts falling on deaf ears. Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Roman Pavlyuchenko all tumbled inside the box, with the latter appearing to have the strongest claim to a spot kick after going over a leg hung out by Raul Albiol.
