I have also been known to put garlic into a warm bath for the birds, as said before, I am led to believe it keeps the mites at bayhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0126-nerd.gif

what about apple cinder vinger ?

would be a bit expansive m8, the garlic is cheaper and as good if not better, I fill a 2 ltr plastic bottle with water and put a half crushed bulb in it, makes it nice and strong to put in bath water, get 2 baths out of it, let it lie for 3-4 days

My garlic use is mainly race season now. I put it in the drinker on race night, and change it for plain water on Monday morning when I pour the garlic water from the drinkers into a bucket, and that is added to the bath water the following Sunday. Honks, but the birds are like lemmings on Sunday jumping into it. :emoticon-0140-rofl:

Deffo keeps them free of anything that crawls.

Archie, haven't noticed them drinking any less water (or more) than usual so feel its right strength for what I want, a preventative against anything they may have picked up while they've been away from the loft.

They come home from the race to fresh water with honey added. I change that at the evening feed for garlic water, a fairly weak mix just half a bulb crushed into 3 litres of water. Provided it stays clean, I top that up with fresh water during the Sunday, and change it again for fresh water first thing on the Monday morning.
