THE FIFER Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 yes done it for ages m8, keeps birds clean free from lice etc also good for clearing the birds nostrils,
lvlasked Posted March 19, 2011 Author Report Posted March 19, 2011 nice one how much garlic and how should i do it ?
sapper756 Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 I have also been known to put garlic into a warm bath for the birds, as said before, I am led to believe it keeps the mites at bayhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0126-nerd.gif
THE FIFER Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 what about apple cinder vinger ? would be a bit expansive m8, the garlic is cheaper and as good if not better, I fill a 2 ltr plastic bottle with water and put a half crushed bulb in it, makes it nice and strong to put in bath water, get 2 baths out of it, let it lie for 3-4 days
Guest IB Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 My garlic use is mainly race season now. I put it in the drinker on race night, and change it for plain water on Monday morning when I pour the garlic water from the drinkers into a bucket, and that is added to the bath water the following Sunday. Honks, but the birds are like lemmings on Sunday jumping into it. Deffo keeps them free of anything that crawls.

Guest IB Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 Ian dose garlic not make the birds thirsty,IE: in water on race nights Archie, haven't noticed them drinking any less water (or more) than usual so feel its right strength for what I want, a preventative against anything they may have picked up while they've been away from the loft. They come home from the race to fresh water with honey added. I change that at the evening feed for garlic water, a fairly weak mix just half a bulb crushed into 3 litres of water. Provided it stays clean, I top that up with fresh water during the Sunday, and change it again for fresh water first thing on the Monday morning.
