Guest spin cycle Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 seeing as the 'site membership' thread is locked i've had to start a new thread. i don't think new members should be nominated....as i wouldn't have been able to join. however the members section has been very 'open' because of the clamour/hoo-ha early in the year to be transparent. my idea would be for a members section for those with 500 + posts

In other words members who have reached "Veteran" status

In other words members who have reached "Veteran" status thats my point a bit bob. perhaps it would encourage others to post in order to get there. if you survive to 500 posts you can't be to bad...at least able to discuss more 'contetious' issues perhaps ? it could be less than 500 perhaps. even so 123 veterans out of nearly 6000 members .....is not great . perhaps we're 'circus animals' because all the others do is watch (dizzy)
Guest kev d Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 why not just put up your region number up so we know your a member or just intrested in pigeons .
pjc Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 i don't know what the answer is but maybe there should be a second authorisation level to enter the members area and post/read. Whatever it is something needs to be done as the forum is being left wide open!

Guest spin cycle Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 question i have got to ask , have these members posts got "content" or do they just post in the introductions section , ie , welcome mate , and hey presto 500 posts with nothing eligible to say , now i dont very often name names but lets take PJC for instance , nice mutual guy and tries to help most people ( that should give me an earner) now his 500 posts are worth a lot more than lots of others thats very true..but no system is going to be perfect. inside the section the 'normal' rules would apply..if you got 'blacklisted' you'd loose your posts etc. if you really want to post 500 'hi m8 nice birds etc' posts you're going to get pretty bored...especially if you get in only to cause trouble..get thrown out and have to start again JMO
white logan Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 500 posts to get into the members section is no real problem , but what content are in the 500 posts ?????????????????????, it still leaves it wide open for the non desirables to scrutinise 8) another 64 posts and i can be in there ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Guest Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 iam ok ive got 520 but thats only since i got back on a couple of months ago the system lost all my details so you could exclude some of those members who have been here since the start of the site as gangster says just dont ans. them they show up right away they will get fed up and leave i know its hard but we will win nothing by going tit for tat with them
Guest Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 Personally don't think the post count is a very viable option. We have members that have been on here quite a while that don't have a huge post count to their name. Whereas we have others who haven't been on / just recently returned that have a squillion post count! Don't think length of time of membership should count either. The only fair way in my opinion to give access to "an inner sanctum" would be by people being verified by their real names, by the site administration, and already well known and confirmed site members who know them. JMO. But, do we really want or need to go down this "Secret Society" road? Think without admin involvement it would just end up as a "clique" controlling who they wanted in, and if the admin / mods team are to control this, is it fair to them on the extra work / timescale it may involve? Food for thought.........
