How much would you guys going to Blackpool pay for a pigeon, would you get into a bidding war or call it quits at your limit.sometimes hard to quit.never go to sales half jaked.

think if you are after a certain bird you have to fix a price you would not go above then stop and not listen to the auctioneer who will say "just one more bid and you might get it"

If attending an auction, and after a certain bird, I personally set a top bid for myself. and do not go beyond this, irrespective what the auctioneer sayshttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

at most auctions pedigrees are available usually with owners address phone number ;) for price you pay fer one at auction you could pick up a few direct no competition on loft door step ;)

Yes, agree you can get hooked up in the atmosphere of an auction room bidding for a bird you really fancy. Can be difficult to put a limit on that, never mind stick to it. :cry-blow:

if its a clearance sale i try to pick by eye through the pens first then handle, then look at performances then its ped set my self a budget and dont go beyond,at the general blackpool sales its mostley reductions or yearlings bred for to sell which normally make more than what its cost to buy direct, but i have paid £500 for a yb for stock and bid upto 1000 for a bird at a clearanc

personally i enjoy the auctions set a price and dont go over it by more than £100 lol on a serious note

i often find myself bidding at auction through work. my tip would be set yourself a limit and stick to it, the next thing to do is when you start bidding don't stop or hesitate once you are nearing your max bid, if you do hesitate you'tell' the other bidder that you are near your max...if you don't hesitate you give the impression you're going on and hopefully the other bidder gives up. return every bid quickly so your rival hasn't time to think....once you reach the limit shake your head to the auctioner and turn you back
