Ulsterman Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 You mean you installed and run the program fine? Inside the program you can't just type in the details field. You need to add a pigeon by pressing the Add-button, that will make the details field editable. thank you,got it now.
Timo Posted August 31, 2009 Author Report Posted August 31, 2009 Ok great . I'm planning on making some documentation too. A little beginners guide or something. So much plans... Oh, general info: the website can now be reached at http://www.pigeonplanner.com, it's a bit easier than the previous one.
Guest grizzler Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 downloaded no pob..nice programme timo..well done :) steve
Ulsterman Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 think this is a handy programe, free as wll, great. but could you please tell me how to add pics as i cant see anthing relating to that.thanks.
Timo Posted September 4, 2009 Author Report Posted September 4, 2009 Thanks grizzler . Ulsterman: When you are adding a pigeon (by pressing the plus sign top left), you can click on the large square with the program logo inside at the detailsview (underneath the entry's where you put the ring number and name). It will open a filechooser where you can navigate to your picture. To remove a picture, right-click on that square and select "Remove". This also works when editing a pigeon.
Ulsterman Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 GOT IT SORTED AT LAST,THANKS VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP,.ITS A GREAT PROGRAME,.
Timo Posted September 4, 2009 Author Report Posted September 4, 2009 Thank you, I'm glad that it worked .
fits Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Hi Timo, First let me say what a great program, i have entered all my stock and all the birds from their pedigree's and everything work as it should. You asked for feedback if we found anything well it might be me but when i edit a pigeon details i.e. ring number year the progran lets me edit the the number by pressing edit then after i make the changes and press save it saves the pigeon's details but without the changes made. I wonder if you could help i case it's me. I have managed to get round the issue by deleting the pigeon’s details and entering them correctly again. I hope this makes sense Regards Dave
Timo Posted September 23, 2009 Author Report Posted September 23, 2009 fits, thanks for the compliment. You are right, I never noticed it before, but if you change a pigeons ringnumber, it won't get saved. All other details (name, colour, etc.) are working correctly, right? I will hunt this down and fix it. Thanks for mentioning it!
chickadee Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 it's still working fine here on vista and a shortcut as well
Timo Posted September 24, 2009 Author Report Posted September 24, 2009 fits: I fixed the problem. The new version will be released somewhere in the next week. I made lots of work in the detailed pedigree. You can now add, remove and edit parents in the pedigree directly, without adding them to the list (usefull for pigeons you don't own for example). So, still some days testing and I'll put it online. Thanks chickadee, I'm very pleased to hear that .
fits Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 Thanks Timo, i will look forward to trying the new version. Regards Dave

Timo Posted September 29, 2009 Author Report Posted September 29, 2009 0.4.8 is currently the latest version. You can check manually by going to Tools=>Updates. Or in the Preferences you can turn on automatic update check. thomasd: It works on Windows 2000 and higher (XP, Vista, 7, ...) and Linux.

Ulsterman Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 AH, but you have to pay for that one. pigeon planners free.
Guest mr mrs arnold sons Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 if you pay for it you get guarantee that it will work
Ulsterman Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 pigeon planner works ok for me. so it'll do me.
Timo Posted September 29, 2009 Author Report Posted September 29, 2009 if you pay for it you get guarantee that it will work That's just not true. If I asked 100 euro for my program, it would be better? It is a myth (and people do believe it) that commercial software is better than free. But I can honestly tell you, and not just because my program is free, that commercial software usually is inferior to free software. No software is guarenteed to work. No matter how much you pay for it. But if you don't like the program, that's ok for me. We are free to choose our own, and if other software suits you better, I will not argue on that . That's why there is alot of software that does the same, so that everyone can choose their favorite.

Timo Posted September 29, 2009 Author Report Posted September 29, 2009 Thank you grizzler. Let me say that I am very happy to hear if people do use it. As I don't earn any money with it (although donation is possible), it keeps me going to hear people working with it and have suggestions to improve. Thanks all.
Timo Posted October 2, 2009 Author Report Posted October 2, 2009 Little announcement about the new version (0.5.0). The major new feature is the ability to add/edit/remove pigeons directly in the pedigree (detailed view). There is also a search option and a logviewer in the menu. The logviewer will be more userfriendly in case of an error. Download at http://pigeonplanner.sourceforge.net/en/download.php
pjc Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 Timo, is it a good thing to be able to just change details anywhere in a pedigree? If a member has entered his birds and there details, including those from the parents pedigrees etc if required then any pedigree produced should be true. What you saying is if a member is selling X, bred from A & B, the bird doesn't sell then with the click of a button you can change a parent/grandparent to champion C! I know pedigrees are only as good as the person writing them but this will just aid anybody wishing to make up a pedigree! IMO Phil
