Guest MIKE1957 Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 Do you get an error? I noticed today that you can't add .jpg pictures on Windows. I think I fixed it, just need to test on some more computers. If everything goes right, I will release a new version tomorrow with the fix for the pictures along with some more small fixes. I also made an installer so you can install the program like any other program, and it will be added to the menu and desktop. I hope that will make it easier for most people. i will look forward to trying the new version as soon as you done it....keep up the good work
holmsidelofts Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 Hey holmsidelofts, I am working on that. It works more or less, it just needs some cleanup. Then I'll make an appbundle for you Mac users too . Cheers timo, look forward to it. jas.
Timo Posted August 30, 2009 Author Report Posted August 30, 2009 Just letting everyone know that the new release is available. The problem with adding a picture should be fixed now along with some other minor problems I have found. There is also a Windows installer available, so you can install it like any other program and it will be put in you start menu (a desktop icon is optional). Get it here: http://pigeonplanner.sourceforge.net/en/download.html
Guest peter.j Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 CAN I JUST DOWNLOAD THE UPDATE OR THE WHOLE THING THEN INPUT ALL PIGEONS AGAIN

Timo Posted August 30, 2009 Author Report Posted August 30, 2009 You need to download the whole package again (it's only 7mb). Your database is stored in your users application data folder, not in the Pigeon Planner folder. That means that you can thrash the pigeonplanner-0.4.4 folder and install the 0.4.6 version with the installer without losing your pigeons. This goes for all further new versions. Download and install the new package and it will overwrite the previous version without losing all your pigeons and data. Thank you MIKE1957 .
Steve Shaw Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 Timo I get an error on the download page, all other pages work fine but the download page wont open, looks like a lot of code on bottom of the page. Is it just my browser or is there something on your website Steve
Timo Posted August 30, 2009 Author Report Posted August 30, 2009 Hey Steve, no problems here. Is it this page? http://pigeonplanner.sourceforge.net/en/download.html Here is the direct link to the Windows installer: https://sourceforge.net/projects/pigeonplanner/files/pigeonplanner/Pigeon_Planner-0.4.6.exe
Guest bakes Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 thanks timo downloaded works fine all the best.
Steve Shaw Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 Still no joy Timmo, I have restarted my computer and internet, Warning coming up not from verified source then in says cant run the .exe file
fred smyth Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 ive just downloaded this and gona try it out it looks very good,, why is it free a lot of other ones that look the same are very dear,,
Timo Posted August 30, 2009 Author Report Posted August 30, 2009 That's not good Steve. I have honestly no idea what is wrong, cause here everything seems fine with the website. Maybe your browser is blocking exe files as a security measure. Fred: It's free because I believe in free and open-source software. That's why I'm using Ubuntu (Linux) instead of Windows or Mac OS X as my operating system. Ofcourse, alot of time and work go into this project, and I'm all doing this for free. So if you like this program and want to support further development (and think of the money you save from a commercial product), you can donate a small amount of money (the button is on the website). This is absolutely not required, everyone is allowed to use this program for free.
fred smyth Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 Still no joy Timmo, I have restarted my computer and internet, Warning coming up not from verified source then in says cant run the .exe file try right clicking on it and run as administrator
fred smyth Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 still cant get it to load photos what format do they have to be ,, its not finding any of my stored photos ,
Timo Posted August 31, 2009 Author Report Posted August 31, 2009 I don't know every format it supports, but it should be able to get all major formats such as jpeg, png, bmp, gif, tiff and so on. What kind of format are you trying to load? Does it give an error? What platform are you using (windows?)?

Timo Posted August 31, 2009 Author Report Posted August 31, 2009 I just tested on Vista and have no problems at all. Are you sure that you have installed version 0.4.6? You can see that in top of the program or by clicking "About" next to the quit button.
fred smyth Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 got it working sound now just opened my photo folder and draged the pic over , its working sweet now ..how many birds can it hold timbo
Timo Posted August 31, 2009 Author Report Posted August 31, 2009 Oh that's great. I just tested on another Vista computer and no problems there either. In theory it can hold unlimited pigeons. But the program might get slow if it needs to read many pigeons. At this moment I have 160 birds in my list and don't notice any performance issues.
fred smyth Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 dose it have a part for pairing up , still checking it out so not sure, how do u add details of pedigrees also printing pedigrees would be class ,
Timo Posted August 31, 2009 Author Report Posted August 31, 2009 No pairing features yet. These are planned for the future though. Every pigeon has an "Extra" box where you can enter 6 lines of extra details for that bird. This will be shown on the pedigree in the box below the ring number. The pedigree is calculated by taking the parents of the pigeon, then again the parents and so on. So you need to add every pigeon in the list before it shows up in the pedigree. I'm thinking of making it able to edit pedigrees without adding the pigeons. To print a pedigree you can click on "View detail" on the bottom of the program (Pedigree tab). A new window will popup with a detailed pedigree and on the top left you can press "Print".
Kieran McDoo Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 I think I'll just leave it to Kieran - then I can't get the blame if it's wrong ;D thanks a lot mum
Ulsterman Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 downloaded ok but whenever i try to type something i cant,my pc just gives a beep.
Timo Posted August 31, 2009 Author Report Posted August 31, 2009 You mean you installed and run the program fine? Inside the program you can't just type in the details field. You need to add a pigeon by pressing the Add-button, that will make the details field editable.
