Guest mick bowler Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 Whats your opinion on RPRA awards and also Olympiad pigeon qualifications? Have to say i never take any real notice of the RPRA awards, as it appears that you have to "apply" for them. I have seen some that have won it with 2nd or 3rd etc, well then surely the winner of that race should of won?? I'm not knocking the winners, but my opinion is that its the system that should maybe change and should include every performance that qualifies within that region and not just those by them that can be bothered to send them in. Also the same as the Olympiad, surely there is some way to get more entries rather than the current system? Again i dont really take much notice of it as it stands, its not as if this (or RPRA award) makes the bird or its performances any better does it.
just ask me Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 i agree cant understand why each bird of the year young bird etc old bird etc is not put forward by there respective organisation for these awards then we might get a more honest winner of the award taking noting away from past winners jmo

How does your fed (or if anyone else would like to share) decide, is it done on points, a panel, co-effeciant or by some other means?
just ask me Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 im not sure but in this computer world and the wizz kids that are around the today im sure something can be thought of on how it should be worked on the system or producure used to calculate the system well that would have to be sorted ok be the fun bit
Guest homestead Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 its not just 1 or 2 results its the results the bird get over time, one of our members John Crehan has a bird called Mystique and she does deserve an award. She has so many 1st 2nd 3rd club and Fed possitions its a dream for most fanciers. So YES the awards are worth while and not given lightly.

There are individual awards too, and they were the ones i was mainly referring too! Mystique is a class act and well derserving, but also my point is why should John have to apply for the award, why isnt it done automatically, and include EVERY result? I'm sure John would admit it would be a better feeling to be awarded it on merit rather than have to apply himself, i know i would. I dont think it would of made a lot of difference in this case but some i see it definately would! As i said i'm not knocking the winners but the system.
