I have just gutted some of mine, finely sprayed them with spirit based varnish and relined them Beware of woodworm they love wicker baskets:'(
jimmy white Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 and the wee beasties like them too [haven for germs , a basket if not kept in order ]
DOVEScot Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 and the wee beasties like them too [haven for germs , a basket if not kept in order ] Baskets really look good but I much prefer training crates, here is one I make, base slides out to clean or replace
Roland Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 Ted, Linseed oils are best. I have mine out in the rain at the moment. Gives them a good clean, and allows them to dry back into original shape. - Also scotches any untowards that they might be carrying.
pjc Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 I wouldn't have wire sides Dovescot so any shavings, feathers etc don't all end up in the boot of the car. Phil

Phil I use shreaded news paper, I have wicker baskets as well but they are so hard to keep clean, I just pressure wash the crates with an anti bacterial solution through the mix every now and then
