DOVEScot Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 dovescote we disagree but i would not have a staff around a 2 year old child the dogs in the garden the kid next door jumps over the fence hiding from his sister then the kids in trouble you see it in the papers and on tv the damage these dogs can do to kids if thats crap tell that to some of these kids perents oh happy days Every dog is capable of attacking, some of the worst I have came across are spoilt rotten lap dogs like pekingese or chiwawas but have yet to come across a staffie that is not people freindly, I had a male that would attack and kill any other dog if it got the chance but would trust it 100% around kids as far as you could trust any animal :-/
Roland Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 Greyhounds go beserk when they see cats, infact they will kill them The reason being that they go too quick to stop. When the Cat arc's it back and starts to threathen it is normally too late. Most dogs stop and walk around posteuring to save face. But no dog will beat a cat overhead, and if, as they will, a cats drops on it's back. the dog squeals and runs, often looses it's eye(s). Bad practise to allow, but any dog will go for dogs if encouraged and made as a game when young.
Roland Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 You get good and bad of every dog and its usually down to the owner what they have made them or want them to be you can turn any dog nasty whatever breed it is Very true Rose. Also getting them drunk as pups does wonders, One spirit drink makes them become there after vicious, and another spirit drink stems their growth. Also encouraging them.
chichichi Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 I have a top preditor here,, this dog can kill staffs and rotwiellers,, no worries,, he won't hurt a thing but will make you aware they are about ,, you then get them yourself..lol.. the way they kill the staff and rottie is by sticking in their throat when being eaten..lmao.. we had a jack russel here,, killed 3 bloody birds.. had to go.. but if taught from an early age they should be ok,, but they do like blood..lol ant

Guest scoobybob Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 I have a dog that was bred for chassing cats, Rhodesian Ridgeback admitted large cats, well lions actually.. But he keeps the cats out and everybody else...Never get any post...
LISTER Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 He looks a total killer ant lol staffs all the way for me totally people friendly cause they big babies themselves
ozbrit Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 i have a rotti and a staff cross both grew up with my kids who are 4 n 5 and will sit next to them and not show one bit of aggression no matter what they do to them. They are brilliant at keeping cats away as the staff x is lightening quick whilst the rottis bark is enough to put most things out of the garden including the two legged pests. Niether worry the pigeons in fact when the youngbirds were just leaving the loft theyd walk over the rotti and she'd not move a muscle.
Guest Paulo Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 Jack Russell as they will bark at any stranger and noise is more of a derretant to thiefs
terry mccarthy Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 lurcher or jack russel i have 1 lurcher 1 staffie 2 jacks and 2 lakelands my lurcher gets over my 7ft gate with ease so cats cant get away with that one good for foxes aswell ive forgot how many foxes they have had in my garden at 2 am in the morning it aint a nice sound for the neighbours
pjc Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 Rolland, when you say getting them drunk do you mean like ours? She wouldn't harm a fly, cats are a different story and would protect the kids all day!
Merlin Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 For me its got to be a Lurcher or Jack Russells, the Jacks for their constant probing, never resting apparently, and the Lurcher, especially with Collie blood, for their cunning, speed, and agility .,also of the opinion, there are more bad owners than bad dogs.
Roland Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 Roland, when you say getting them drunk do you mean like ours? She wouldn't harm a fly, cats are a different story and would protect the kids all day! LOL, Whisky makes them agressive, and gin stunts their growth ... But must be careful as can't be reversed. MInd playing games for fun usually suffices. Knew a fellow that had dogs to guaerd etc. This were left outdoors of course. When around 6 months of so, someone, heavily cladded, would climb the fence, or go through the door - sometimes both if felt need be - and give the dog a little smacking.... When any one later in life walked througthe door, or climbed the fence, the dogs hardly murmurred till taking a bite or two. Very effective. But horses for courses and dogs for need as.
terry mccarthy Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 a dogs temperment is down to u its how u treat them treat them bad and there be no good my dogs are all working dogs and would never dream of turning on anyone unless u walk in my garden or house brillant with kids and very loving animals

By the way I would not trust your doctor that Shipman was a bad un And that Josef Fritzl was such a nice man :-/ A Staffy
