freddy kruger Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 overnight my birds droppings are a darkish green during the day the droppings seem to go a paler green and with one bird slightly watery they are eating well relaxed and calm could this be symptoms of worms ? any ideas please
Guest geordiejen Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 to be honest mate i think its just the time of the year.over the last couple of weeks ive found some dodgy looking droppings but the birds seem fine.i roughtly know the birds usual perch and monitored the bird but it has some normal looking and then the odd dodgy looking one bit it changed from bird to bird.my advice would be to clean the loft daily as this helps monitor them and change the drinking water twice a day, throw out any water when changing.i clean the loft more in the winter as the dropping dont really dry up and it can get a bit smelly if left a few days.
shasha Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 Have to agree with you guys as my birds droppings are exactly the same. At first I thought it was a touch of coxy and dosed them for it but the dropppings still vary daily!!!! Still get dark green runny droppings yet the birds look fine. Barry
OLDYELLOW Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 if really dark green more likely to be Canker have the birds been paired recently ???? as the stress of pairing can cause canker to rear it's head especially in yearlings
Guest bigda Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 can also be a sign of not getting enough to eat on cold nights
Guest IB Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 Some of my birds had 'stringy' droppings during that extreme cold weather. Was getting droppings tested anyways so bagged a few of the 'iffy' ones seperately to see what vet made of them. They were parasite-free. He reckoned it was down to birds drinking less water, and yes, my drinkers froze during that spell. Think green colour comes from bile, one of birds digestive juices.
