Hi there,

I'm starting to price the final things I need to set up my first loft.  It's a ridiculously obvious question, but how much do birds drink?

I'll have about a dozen, and have no idea what size of drinker I need to buy.    Also, several sites offer poultry drinkers as being suitable for pigeons.  I know pigeons drink by sucking unlike chickens, is this type of drinker OK?

Cheers

I use 2 litre drinkers. I usually change them twice a day, today I didn't. I have 9 youngsters in one section, I've just emptied their drinker into a jug, and it measures just over a litre. The other section has 12 youngsters + 4 yearlings, their drinker hasn't been changed today either, and its far from empty. So a 2pt drinker is sufficient for your 12 birds; provided you change the water at least every day, they'll never be without water.
