Guest Grasshopper Lofts Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 i thought they were designd so they couldnt, why dont they all do it theres always one craftey little bugger to stop it u can use the stuff u insulate copper pipes with just put peices on the bars that seperate the drop holes.
av8or Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Ive got two pigeons that jump out the sputnik wots it all about ,any body elses do it I know that a couple of my birds learned to climb out of the most outer entrances to the sputnik, as they manage to clamber up the sides. To prevent this, I simply bought some gaffer tape (I'm not sure of the actual name of it) and taped up both outer entrances.
pigeonpete Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 I got an old cock that does it, only does it in racing season? And i have a yb this year that does it, and i think its off him! When i first started 4 years ago, went to louella and bought 6 from there, got home put them in my new loft, 5 seconds later 1 had escaped through sputnick never saw again! 1 of the quickest £20 i have lost :-) :-)
little sam Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 My tame hen used to do it everytime i walked past the front of the loft, (If the drop holes were open) Always dived on me for a peanutt, I almost crap myself the first time as no one else was in the house an i thought sumone grabed my shoulder ;D ;D
Guest Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Get some old wire coat hangers and cut and bend in a half circle and fix them top and bottom on each bar that separates the drop through holes. It stopped mine.
wilkins Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 i have a cock 6 year old that does it daily , some of my ybs done it over the last 2 years so i made a box aviery with bob wires for them,
cowman Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 before i fitted my backing gate to mine i use to have one bird that use to get on the perch at the back fly at the sputnik and at the last second close her wings to dart through the hole and out she would go.
jimmy white Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 pigeons are creatures of habit, i,e if one bird as a y bird is frightened out the sputnick or merely found a way,, ittl allways do this, if a bird gets a drink from a" still fill" bath on a race day, ittl allways look there for water if thirsty,, if a yb is tamed and feeding from your hand ittl allways do this,,if one flies over your head at the door , ittl allways do this,,, they never forget,,,never

mark proctor Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 if you stand there and wait for them to jump...catch it right...get a piece of 2 x 2 and wack them back in ..they wont attempt it again..the ting is they will miss the young bird program...... > > > > > > ;D ;D ;D ;D
jimmy white Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 [/color] how come they forget to come home sometimes lol ;D joking aside the pigeon never forgets to come home, its either unable , through one cause or another , [many causes] ive had a bird back after 6 years lol, dont say much of its racing ability ;D but what a memory ;D,, also gave a bird away as a yearling, whenever it was separated from its hen it would return,, right up till it was 14 years old ;D,, also a yb came in to me late one night, was taken to its owner in broxburn the next day,,,,three years later that same bird dropped into me from sartilly in france, last thing at night ,,, not 20 miles from its home, after a nights rest offed it home, just out the result,, you can be sure a pigeons memory is second to none ;D ;D ;D now what was this post about?? ;D
