nipper Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 Great looking set up! Have you walked off the front yet ?
Fly_caster Posted May 23, 2011 Report Posted May 23, 2011 LOL - It is a little windy here today ! Fed the birds shortly after 8AM this morning - windy but everything looked OK. Was about to drop my eldest lad to school at about 10am, had a look up to the loft as I got into the car only to see the aviary flipped onto it's side and two large holes ripped from the side of the stock loft. Luckily only one bird missing after all of that - a Venus Cock, it could have beeen them all including my Florizoones and Van Der Wegans ! Happy for small mercies ! It will be tomorrow before I'll be able to repair the side of the loft and reconsider the anchoring points - the whole structure took some buffeting today. ATB, Steve

Fly_caster Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 lucky not too much damage hope you get the missing stock bird Thanks Glen and all, We got luckier than we even thought - the missing Cock appeared from beneath the drinker stand ( adjoins the nest boxes and runs all the way underneath them) - he must have dived in there for cover when the aviary was wrenched off the side of the loft. We discovered him at evening feeding time last night so he (and we) was happy to see his nestbox, youngsters, Hen and some food & water ! Just need to rebuild the aviary now. Steve
The engineer Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 Try putting paving slabs on the floor over the the wood. this should make it to heavy for the wind to blow it away.Good luck with the rebuild.PS nice set up
