PIGEON_MAN Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Are you considering having ETS at some time if so having just one trap would save you a lot of money in the long run.
Guest Grasshopper Lofts Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Are you considering having ETS at some time if so having just one trap would save you a lot of money in the long run. hi mate already have ets was thinking of only using it for young birds though
PIGEON_MAN Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Once you have used it you will want to use it all the time it makes everything so much easier.
kirky Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 i use 1 sputnik for roundabout with ets pad in bottom, then move it to yb trap, only have avery for stock birds, have found when yb have an avery thay tend to land on it a lot when racing & training you wont them on the trap or close to it,
pigeonscout Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 I use ets at floor level into corridor at the first section they then walk up the corridor to their own section. This way the young birds will use same trap when old birds.
pjc Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Aviary for the stockbirds and I prefer a trap for each section. If you have a flight along the front with a single trap when the bird arrives he will run up and down it looking for his section rather than just heading for the single trap which may nit be near his section.
Guest IB Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 All birds benefit from an aviary, so having it along the front of each section sounds good to me ~ another advantage I can think of is on race days when the returning bird can see birds 'already' in the loft, it will have less hesitation going in; One way in & out for all birds would be my preference, that is what I have just now ~ 'one' open door. And I need only 1 ets pad, young, old & stock birds go over it.
Albear Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 If you are flying roundabout next year it may be that you will have ob flying out for 4 hours in a day (cocks & hens 2 hrs each). I would go for end aviaries but if you are getting birds out on roundabout, you will need to keep the stock and yb out of the avaries whilst they are out. Just a practical point.
Guest Grasshopper Lofts Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 thanks for the advice guys more to think about again lol and nice to see your back albear
