looks like hawk attack to me is it missing tail feathers or any flight feathers

I'd say it was a typical attack, with the bird pinned to the ground and the hawk stripping flesh from it. Bird has had a lucky escape.

Wire would be underneath has to be bop

 

Tell that to the red hen I've got - who has a bruise across the back of her neck and both wings - in a straight line - she has hit wires - don't know how she's done it - but it is possible :P

 

she has only started flying again in the last 2 weeks, as she wasn't able to at all for a month

Sue Ive seen Sparrow Hawks chasing pigeons up under the wires, creating an easy meal for them when they drop, quiet possibly what happened to your hen
