How many birds are the welsh flyers putting into this race and what do you reckon the birdage will be? Also do you think the birds will go on Sunday?

I am hoping to put in around 14 but will check the weather nearer the time as my little boy has his 3rd Birthday party in the afternoon and not going to miss that for the world. If they get away early will be ok but if not going until later in the morning or midday could be in trouble! :(

Looking at the weather I wouldn't be surprised if we basket Sunday night for a Monday lib as there is little chance of a lib on Sat or Sun.. I have 87 ready to be entered in the National but the weather needs to change or we need to change basketing day as I don't want them kept in the transporter too long. We will wait and see what happens.

i would bet its a sunday lib again aswell..weather better on sunday, there will be a lot of birds in the air again!..as most feds will hold till sunday...unless a short race for that fed .

At the moment it is Sunday for Monday but as mentioned the better day now looks to be Sunday! Monday not looking too promising and with the Folkstone race on the following week could be a tricky one for members who are sending!

:o:rolleyes: Is it? I have down Maidstone, Folkstone, Newbury, Lillers, Swindon, Swindon! Mind saying that I had a look at a race programme last week at the club and was certain I saw 2 Newburys still to fly so that would be the missing one! So what is the programme as it stands now then as the one I have appears to be wrong! :(

Its already a sticky one for some just spoke to a friend who cant send anyway as he has to go to work on Monday. So perhaps if they cant race on weekends they would be better of cancelling the races all together and just let the program run on a little longer. As with all the swapping and changing that seems to go on these days this could see fanciers leaving the sport, as at the end of the day thats why they keep them to see them race home win or lose!!! The two i have spoke to who wont be sending are well Pi~~ Off. And the worst thing is they will still have to pay i wonder if they would swap & change so much if they went back to birdage?

Opps, just checked my own and it says - Maidstone, Newbury, Folkstone, Lillers, Swindon, Swindon. Is that the correct preogramme?

I have just spent the morning re-doing my A/leaves in work based on the programme I mentioned first which is wrong! Oh well will keep me busy tomorrow changing it all back!

I agree Ant, can't see them going Monday and Tuesday looking not too clever either! They should cancel it and move the programme back a week! JMO but whats the point trying to race Monday when they could be stuck in the basket until Wednesday and half the fanciers are working anyway!

Not looking good for Monday at the moment but it could change again by the time tomorrow comes the weather seems even too unpredictable for the forecasters to get it right at the moment.

Alun, I have to dissagree with you on this one I think the interests of the pigeons must come first. I for one don't want my birds stuck in the basket for days on end waiting for the weather to change, they are better off in the loft. I can only speak for our Fed (Rhondda Valley) and since we have been re-arranging the race according to the weather we have never experienced such good YB racing.. Not many YB's have been lost this year so far and thats down to good race management in my opinion. As you know you can never please everybody no matter what. With ETS though at least the birds can clock them selves if you have to be in work but I appreciate this is not ideal.

It seems that the weather is changing every hour . The below 4 pictures are for monday @ 7am 10am 1pm and 4pm. Starting from top left going clockwise. These where copied from XC WEATHER it shows visiblity and wind too on the site if you want to look. Wind seems to be west between 7 and 10 mph through out the day. Wind increasing on home end I think. On this information I would think we would be able to go sometime late morning? jmo!

No where in my post did i say that the birds welfare should not come first, thats why i said if the weather is forecast to be so bad why not just cancel the race, as by the looks of it they could end up there until Tuesday anyhow.

Looks like we were all worrying about nothing.

Race on tomorrow I predict a lib between 10 & 12 with a 8 - 15 MPH W/SW wind all the way with a possibility of showers later on in the day.

Not going to be easy for them, should sort them out a bit.

All the best.
