Fifi Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 Hi there, I've got a bit of a problem and I thought a pigeon fanciers place might be the place to start. A friend of mine found a pigeon squab that had fallen out of it's nest this morning and knowing my husband has , in the past, rescued other birds, brought it to us. It seems to be doing fine and is eating & drinking with no problems. However we are not ideally set up to care for this little creature being as we live in a flat and we have 4 cats. Said pigeon is currently residing in a box in the spare room out of cat way. Anyway, if anyone has an aviary / loft with room in the East London / Essex area we'd be very grateful for your assistance. It is a cute little thing and seeing as it seems to be doing well so far it would be great to give it the best chance of life. If anyone is able to help please reply and I'll send my email address for further arrangments. Thanks very much & here's hoping in advance.Fi.

Fifi Posted August 19, 2010 Author Report Posted August 19, 2010 Thanks guys, We're in Leyton, but have horses out in High Beech in Epping Forest and travel around the area a fair bit. Said pigeon (now named Gizmo!)is doing very well but as I said we really aren't set up to care for it here. If you would be interested in taking him on please email me on fifilala@live.co.ukFi. PS he now has a large bag of chick crumbs donated by our feed merchant to go with him!
Wiley Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 i dont drive so wouldnt be able to help unfortuantly, was hoping you was a little closer, or one bus ride away, however High Beech is a place were many east london fanciers train there pigeons, keep your eye open for one, the majority are a good bunch of lads, and sure would be able to help you. So sorry i couldnt be of any help, just that currently i have a broken leg, and to get to leyton, would be quiet a journey by bus for me.

THE FIFER Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 hope all goes well, good to see offers of help,
Fifi Posted August 21, 2010 Author Report Posted August 21, 2010 Well the little guy is thriving and we really are getting to the stage of needing a home for him. Wiley - we are very happy to drive to you if you would be willing to take him, we're getting a bit worried he's going to imprint on our house, not great with 4 cats - especially as one of them has it in for pigeons... even though she's only just a bit bigger than most of them!Or any number that you may have pjc, in the area. He's still having to be fed by hand by the way. Thanks in advance.
