Roland Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 Pass The Butter ...Please. This is interesting. .. . Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back. It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow colouring and sold it to people to use in place of butter.. How do you like it? They have come out with some clever new flavourings.. DO YOU KNOW.. The difference between margarine and butter? Read on to the end...gets very interesting! Both have the same amount of calories. Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams; compared to 5 grams for margarine. Eating margarinecan increaseheart diseasein women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study. Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrientsin other foods. Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few and only because they are added! Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavours of other foods. Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years . And now, for Margarine.. Very High in Trans fatty acids. Triples risk of coronary heart disease . Increases total cholesteroland LDL(this is the bad cholesterol) and lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol). Increases the risk of cancers up to five times.. Lowers quality of breast milk. Decreases immune response. Decreases insulin response. And here's the most disturbing fact.... HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING! Margarine is but ONE MOLECULEaway from being PLASTIC... and shares 27 ingredients with PAINT These facts alone were enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance). You can try this yourself: Purchase a tub of margarine and leave it open in your garage or shaded area. Within a couple of days you will notice a couple of things: * no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something) * it does not rot or smell differently because it has no nutritional value ; nothing will grow on it. Even those teeny weeny microorganisms will not a find a home to grow. Why? Because it is nearly plastic. Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast? Share This With Your Friends.....(If you want to butter them up')! Chinese Proverb: When someone shares something of value with you and you benefit from it, you have a moral obligation to share it with others. Pass the BUTTER PLEASE Then there's many others as http://www.snopes.com/food/warnings/butter.asp
Roland Posted August 18, 2010 Author Report Posted August 18, 2010 Thinking I'll have to get back to dripping eh the price of butter. Never liked it as a kid... but needs must eh I looked at making me own potted beef Dearer than buying a joint Then one has to keep reboiling / simmering.... They must make it from off cuts eh!
Roland Posted August 19, 2010 Author Report Posted August 19, 2010 Well, Joyce still has her margarine. Unless I make the butter says at a £1 ago only one can afford it… So who remembers those days of butter where mum used to ‘Dab it on…. And scrape it off’ lol. After spreading the butter upon it’s self to make spreadable eh! Ah the good old days. Just had a great pork pie – mine are great I make, best in forty years. Coop were the kiddies, then Saxby’s. Used to get some home made ones in the 80’s / 90’s when training from Grantham. Brill! But these are better from Oakham- where I pass through when training now. Funnily enough these also originated from Grantham at the same time. – Their Home made st & Kidleys aren’t so great. Indeed mine are better. So have just had Home made crusty bread with 2-year-old own pickled onions, A great strong mature cheddar, Tomato with garden grown Beetroot – not my own of course - Tomatoes with pickle, Pick-Lilly. And Butter well dabbed on… and none scraped off lol Mind will say my own made butter is by far the best.
Roland Posted August 24, 2010 Author Report Posted August 24, 2010 Have just aquired a half block of veggie Cheese. Not to bad a taste i guess ... but doesn't melt very good to say the least.
WilliamJones Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 I'm 99% sure that margerine's illegal now, at least in the UK. They banned it because of those exact reasons!
Roland Posted September 3, 2010 Author Report Posted September 3, 2010 Well I also see Canada, for instance, that has banned it, has now revealed that they are using some kind of 'Loop Hope' as in another name, and are in the throes of tightening and banning further.
