Roland Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 Good belief billt But they never starve, and seldom do strays get eaten by cats lol. More likely the 'Home' birds there I'd venture in reality .
alex wight Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 SUPER GLUE THEM ON. If their worth putting the ring on in the first place, then they warrant keeping it on. If and when it goes into a thief's loft, it wont be able to be removed.
Guest Owen Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 I have to admit I was wrong to suggest that Clubs should discourage people who want to use rubbers. However, I am fed up with people who breed loads of birds and try to flood the baskets with them in the hope that they can influence the result with numbers. I see anything up to 120 youngsters entered in the races by some people. I can not see how they can look after those numbers properly. We had a sticky race last week and there were people with 20's and 30's missing whereas the best fliers had very good returns. I take the point about the guy with the kids and the mortgage who has the bad luck to have a flyaway. Nevertheless, if a person can not afford to keep the numbers they have they should not shove the problem onto others. It is a bit like those cat owners who impose their pets on everybody in the neighbourhood. My only concilation is that a most of the breeders of numbers usually loose their birds before the season's end.
Guest tom123 Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 whilst on the subject of ets rings and rubbers our club can be discribed as one of the biggest clubs in wales at present and with the increase in ets rings this year 70% of our members have reverted back to rubbers for young birds this year so its a cat and mouse game with the price if thet keep putting the costs up then obviouslly they aint going to get the custom so it`l be a no win situation when more and more revert back to traditional racing a steady lower income annually would be more benificail to ets companies than no income at all surelly
Ian McKay Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 Hi Tom123 With the rules changing all the time with Unikon I too can see a lot reverting back to rubbers With the cost of the insurances they have imposed on clubs where do we go from here I wonder how many clubs have taken insurance for the repairs / damadge and the £500 for loss or theft
