T_T Posted July 17, 2010 Report Posted July 17, 2010 Would you let your youngsters out before you take em' training.?Start my first trainer with the youngsters tomorrow. They have just started ranging over the last three days. Not flying for too long, maybe 20mins at most but going very well. Notice on here, a lot of people losing young en's. Starting at 15mls and fingers crossed. Nice day forecast so if they go off track, should be OK to work back if they've got the sense.
Wiley Posted July 17, 2010 Report Posted July 17, 2010 clive in my opinion id only let them out if u started tossing say at 2miles and 5 miles as some do. However with a first toss i always toss them so they know dinner is due, but generally i start mine at 25 miles
Guest bakes Posted July 18, 2010 Report Posted July 18, 2010 mine get let out before hand for exercise give um light feed then later basketed up and taken found if i just basket them up take them there clapping about for minutes wasteing time i conduct training as if it was race as soon as see them tin out call them in hopefuly getting them to trap as soon as possible as i look at it end of the day your training them for raceing you wont them to learn as soon as arriveing back at lofts they got to no there got to hit loft and trap asap all the best.

Hi Bakes,Sounds a bit contradictive, why would you feed them before basketing, if you wanted them to trap quickly on return, unless they had a night in the basket? Or they were let out early morning and trained late evening?CheersRyan
JohnQuinn Posted July 18, 2010 Report Posted July 18, 2010 A LIGHT feed might be a handful of trapping mix, and later could be 4 hours! Depends how you look at it
peterpau Posted July 18, 2010 Report Posted July 18, 2010 Why would you start training before they've been roaming enough?I like mine to roam for an hour or more before they see the basket.I've never taken mine more than 15 mile for the first toss. I train mine at about 12. I do like the idea of going further but I'd be inclined to think you've gone too soon.
