OLDYELLOW Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 well i got bairns 12 foot ool out yesterday and managed to fill it with water so she'll be happy
john cumming Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 what happens to them all? Do they die, or make it back to land? well if they get a fresh drink n a bit food they stand a fighting chance but often they are flown out and sit somewhere they cant be caught and basically die, they often drink water that has chemicals in it which doesnt help, or if they are lucky we can catch them and have them sent ashore by boat, heicopter pilots are not keen to transport them nowadays for various reasons!!! i wish more of our governing bodies would contact the various helicopter companies and offshore companies ie: shell, bp, exo mobil, to see if anything can be done to help the birds
blue lad Posted May 22, 2010 Author Report Posted May 22, 2010 Hello john i dont know if this will help. We are skidded over a production rig.The oim is bird daft and he says the same . He is going to contact all the other oim,s he knows in the southern sector of north sea,to forward a letter i wrote. To bristows, norwich, humber, north deens,to start taking all birds inc racing pigeons back to dry land to give em a chance in life.Hundereds of pigeons get out here for what ever reason ?There are hundreds of rigs some some unmanned for most of the year bare spring through to late summer. lads have told me they have been out to these rigs shutling daily. Some only 20mls from land. And have seen many pigeons dead,&alive all over the rig .With no chance to get them off. lets hope this makes a diffrence.
