stantheman Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 the birds need to be healthy fit and motivated to do well, what system are you flying? then maybe we can give you a few pointersall best stan
tommy.walsh Posted May 12, 2010 Author Report Posted May 12, 2010 i am flying natural mate its my first year with pigeons and i havnt got them trained much as im only young
pigeonpete Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 i would just concentrate on getting them all back at first mate, all the bes with them,
stantheman Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 i would just concentrate on getting them all back at first mate, all the bes with them, how fars the race ? and as pete says just concentrate on getting them home then you can build on that, so my advice would be make sure that they have enough fuel in the tank for the job in hand, dont send them hungry or racing to the corn tin, if you havent trained much are they flying well round the loft? because if there not you are asking for troubleall best stan
tommy.walsh Posted May 12, 2010 Author Report Posted May 12, 2010 yes mate they are flying well around the loft . . .the race is only 80 mile how much do you think i should feed them befor they go mate
stantheman Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 yes mate they are flying well around the loft . . .the race is only 80 mile how much do you think i should feed them befor they go mate As your first aim is to get them home i would feed them as much as they want night before basketing and then would do same again on morning of basketing then remove all food at noon then give them a little seed before basketing to encourage them to have a drink all best stan
marmite Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 personally i would take stans advice as its all good another thing that may help naturals i would hopper feed as they dont eat as much then but if its in front of them all day then they only eat what they want trap them with conditioning seed then they wont carry to much extra weight then thats how i used to race my naturals with success from longer distances atb to you on your first race m8 clive
