pjc Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Who will continue to donate to online charity sales? I will sell birds and give money to Gail J for example for whichever charity she is collecting for and will continue to support Mick Bowlers cancer charity's.
Guest stb- Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 AS LONG AS ITS NOT DONE LIKE THE HEROS SALE WAY NO UPDATES ON IT
Guest mick bowler Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 I have never refused yet, but no doubt i may consider refusing or seeking assurances in the future. Maybe should post a thread after this asking "if you donate will you withdraw if it does not make what you consider a fair amount", and another one, "will you breed YBs as promised or keep fobbing the purchaser off"!
p charlton Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 i might do but the seems a lot on the forums and dont seem to be run that well but it must be hard work
Guest kevin b Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 After just finishing a charity auction I think I can speak on this issue. The online thing is easy to get into and I know Mick got a great response to his sale and raised a huge amount of money from you the fancier, but we have to realise that some people just get on to see their own posts and never really have any intention to donate anything. 99 per cent of the people are genuine and to lose a few bids from the 1% is no reason to stop all the good work that has and will always be done by us the pigeon folk. Yes we have to be more careful but dont stop because some dope gets under your skin, we were lucky in our sale because it was a live auction and everything went under the hammer, I acually have men that paid for birds but not collected them or even contacted me about them, they just wanted to give to the cause, it causes me a bit of a headache but I can live with that. It is better to try and fail than never to have tried. Its like the old saying,If your not bothered then why bother. Keep the faith. Kevin

Guest VINNIE Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 hi i have sent out over 30 youngbirds this year for different causes ,i even paid out over £100 in carraige to help sell my birds in these sales not because i want my birds to go for what i think they are worth but to try to boost the funds for the cause ,as you know i have run my fair share of charity sales in the past some close to home and some not but i have always got good response from donors and buyers but i can understand where mick is coming from it is a headache when things go wrong but i think the end result out weigh the bad things when you see someone smile or even cry with joy when you hand over the money it is all worth it knowing we have all made the difference, kev one thing i do miss is a live auction good if you can get a good response in attendence ,i raised some good money in the south but it was hard work in my area to get bums on seats good way also to meet new friends ,the bottom line is i will always try to donate a youngster to any cause if i can ,i hope your sale was a success kev and sorry i was unable to donate this time if you have any future sales please contact me and mick you should be very proud mate what you adcheived you made such a difference to so many people ,mick maybe we should get together in the future and make it bigger i have an idea up my sleeve which will not only help people but promote the sport will be in touch atb to everyone goo luck with the rest of the season regards vinnie
