T_T Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Do other fanciers find it neccessary to use droppers on race days ?
Chatrace Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 I find it is needed if it was a hard windy race. I think they are a bit spooked when trying to land in the wind and seeing a dropper makes them feel its safer
jimmy white Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 YES I DID, IUSED AN OLD WIDOWHOOD COCK , WHEN I SPOTTED A BIRD COMMING.THE OLD COCK FLEW STRAIGHT THROUGH THE OPEN DOORS, WITH THE RACING COCK FOLLOWING, IN TO THEIR HENS, NEVER WASTED A SECOND. :)
Guest shadow Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 I use a tippler hen with my young birds seeing her walking along the landing board gives them extra confidence to trap from the early races
Guest Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Never used them at all, I work them hard with the red flag and when they come back from the race they know they have to trap straight in as the flag is hidden, only made one mistake, wore a red T shirt on race day <VBG>
MsPigeon Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 I have never used droppers either. I have used the flagging method as well. Linda does flagging replace any road training in your system? e.g. You don't have to road train as much? Funny about the red shirt ;D
Guest Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 Carol I basically use flagging on the days we don't road train, I can usually keep them up about 3 hours
celtic Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 What's the best birds to use as droppers ?
