Pompey Mick Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 Did anyone read Harambee's notes in the RP last week when he was talking about what is the definition of National Clubs. He stated the RPRA rules on the subject and then mentioned a specialist club that has the word 'National' in its title but has a restricted radius. He must have been referring to the Midland National Flying Club, but I believe that this Club was formed before this rule and were given dispensation to keep the name. However I feel he has a point and that the MNFC should always use their full title when talking about club results and not refer to 'National' racing as they occasionally do in their reports. From what I read it is an excellent club, probably one of the best in the country, but it is not, and never can be, a National club.
THE FIFER Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 I UNDERSTOOD THE RPRA RULE RELATING TO THE WORD NATIONAL, MEANT IF USED MUST BE OPEN TO ALL RPRA MEMBERS???
THE FIFER Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 its a funny one rose the rules need to be looked into, as to what defines a national.
Guest Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 (National )Means (whole) There fore the Whole of a country can compete not a part of a country. The British Barcelona Club involves several Countries but not many fanciers from outside England compete, The NFC was first started in 1898 Ex- Pat
mealybar Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 The BBC sounds like an international to me then, England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, and the Channel Islands. If a club is open to any fancier in a country (radius) then its a national, there are a few which accommodate England, Wales, and more countries in name. Is 'Midlands National' a contradiction in itself?
Guest Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 yes i think it is! but there again welsh national is techically correct as wales is a nation in its own right. so this does not need to include the rest of the uk.
mealybar Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 Welsh national no problem Like Scottish national Aint it strange how we aint got an English National (by name - I know we got nfc, bicc, etc)
THE FIFER Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 been looking for rpra rules can't find them at the moment, but there is a rule reffering to organisations using the word national,
PIGEON_MAN Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 THINK THIS COULD BE THE ONE FIFER,NO APPLICANT ORGANISATION SHALL BE ADMITTED TO AFFILIATION TO THE ASOCIATION UNLESS, THE NAME OF THE ORGANISATION INCLUDES THE WORD "NATIONAL"UNLESS MEMBERSHIP OF THE ORGANISATION IS OPEN TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE ASOCIATION.SEEMS TO ME AS SOMEONE ELSE SAID IN THE CASE OF THE MNFC THIS RULE AS BEEN OVERLOOKED.
Guest Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 Hi Mealybar That is it NFC meaning 'National Flying Club' THe BICC because they race all the International Races. The B.B.Club' is the 'British Barcelona Club', it was a race from Barcelona they competed for then the main race became Palamos approx 40 miles from Barcelona but the pigeons fly along and cross over via Perpignan area most times from Barcelona, This route also applies to the International Barcelona race, eight Eupopean Countries in this race and all the long distance international races Ex_Pat
