Guest Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 just had a text from a mate who is on a trip to belgium and the lier market is open today sunday and still selling pigeons and they have bought some.
Guest Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 Hi Belgium Pigeon Fanciers start the short distance race program on the second Saturday of this month Thought you may be interested Ex_Pat
PIGEON_MAN Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 THEY OBVIOUSLEY HAVE NO FAITH IN THE BIRDS THEY ALLREADY HAVE AND PROBABLEY THINK BECAUSE THEY HAVE A BELGIUM RING ON THEY WILL BE MUCH BETTER THAN WHAT THEY,VE GOT.
slatey Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 Hi all some good pigeons have come out of the lier market for less than a tenner
Guest shadow Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 I know several people that must have bought close on 200 birds from lier and not one of them has been any good.
Guest Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 I think people should look closer to home for new stock , as we have much better birds in this country to choose from. The Belgians must laugh at us going over there by the coach load to fill up our lofts with their rubbish. Saves them the binmen I suppose. I bought six from their 2 years ago and they certainly couldn't keep up with the birds I bred myself or was given by my friends. Incidentally I lost all six in the youngbird season. Most of my friends that bought from Lier market never kept a bird yet either.
slatey Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 As i said earlyer some good pigeons have come from the lier, 1st fed /2nd fed same pigeon as yb 2005 3rd fed plus other club/fed postions but then lost her. plus other club/fed postions from other lier pigeons in 2005. same in 2004 bought 6 2005 bought 12 / 8 still left. so yes i will go to the lier for more but not this year as i have not gone to spring exchange. But i will go again. tomo
Guest Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 Hi Rose A lot of the pigeons that are sold at Lier are from Strays and Town Toppers, and bred on farms etc There are a few fanciers that are genuine. But what beats me is by the time as fancier has travelled from England to Lier The cost and then buying ,what i call A lot of Rubbish. Then they may as well buy from a genuine fancier in england. I know no one can guarantee by at least you will get a fair deal. But as in the early 80,s the Belgium ring is worth more than the pigeon in many cases Ex_Pat
johnny11 Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 Hi slatey No doubt but I would wonder what the % of good pigeons is compared to the crap ones. Best birds are those you get for nowt
peterpau Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 I'd sooner go to lier than blackpool but then what's the point in buying birds you may not get to race
