Pompey Mick Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 As it looks as if there are going to be plenty of libs at Portsmouth this year members might like to log on to a local live web cam site. www.seaportsmouth.co.uk The cameras are looking at the South West corner of Portsmouth from a Westerly direction. The Lib Site is about a mile east of the Harbour entrance in the visible distance. You can get a good idea of prevailing weather conditions as all the cameras are live.
Pompey Mick Posted March 20, 2006 Author Report Posted March 20, 2006 If you're having trouble loading the website. it seems to be playing up on this message, go to my reply in the Racing Pigeons section , topic Racing (or not) it works perfectly from there. Take a look at the Spinnaker tower at night in Gunwharf Quays.

Jazza Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Ya get a wrong wind man and its like portland out in da water can be da bad site . Jazza losta a lota skilled birds man
Pompey Mick Posted March 21, 2006 Author Report Posted March 21, 2006 Hi Jazza, if you've lost birds from Portsmouth i am sorry, it is a very open site in the centre of Southsea common with no hazards in the vicinity. If birds have ben lost I would say it has happened on route as all the liberation I have witnessed the birds have cleared the lib site with no problem.
Guest Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Been to Southsea common, seemed an excellent liberation site to me.
THE FIFER Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 BEEN THERE MANY A TIME WHILE WITH THE ROYAL MARINES AT EASTNEY BARRACKS
Pompey Mick Posted March 22, 2006 Author Report Posted March 22, 2006 Rose, I don't know why Goodwood was closed, it may have something to do with the proximity of Goodwood airfield a popular light aircraft aerodrome. Fifer, as I said before the Barracks are still there but they have been turned into luxury flats, I actually worked on the clock tower turning it flats. I 'm afraid a few of the local pubs have gone but the two opposite the Barrack gates are still there.
Chris Little Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 Not a problem Rose , will keep you updated , if all goes to plan at present it could be near the end of May onwards Chris
THE FIFER Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 pompey i thought eastney barracks were turned into a museum, for the marines, i visit the web site often, so it must just be part of the barracks which the museum has, or has it all changed, the clock tower must have looked at that a lot of times, i had my wife down there with me for a while, blemhiem rd i think was one place then we had a house which the back of looked into a cemetary,
Guest Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 Fifer, Were you a Bootneck ???? Seen The Bands of the Royal Marines on many occasions and visited Eastney, The D Day museum and the Naval Dockyards. Got a CD with some tracks by The Massed Bands of the Royal Marines but Steve still can't understand the words I sing along to Colonel Bogey <VBG.
Pompey Mick Posted March 24, 2006 Author Report Posted March 24, 2006 Fifer, The Eastern wing of the Barracks is a Museum, was it the Officers Mess? The main block and the Western wing have all been turned into flats, All the lesser buildings behind the main block have been demolished and turned into a housing estate. The radar towers are due to be demolished and two blocks of luxury flats built in their place.
Guest Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 but the fifer's on about the first world war LOL ;D
