Guest Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 Raised subject of Government Departments negotiating with pigeon people on matters which affect us on the same basis as other stakeholders. With respect, some may not know what I'm talking about and copied below is the Scottish Group which is making all the decisions affecting you and your racing pigeons. Note who is missing! Animal Health and Welfare Stakeholder Group Introduction It is important that stakeholders' views are taken into consideration on the continuing work being undertaken by the Scottish Executive to promote, develop and implement Scotland's animal health and welfare policy. Reflecting this, the Scottish Executive Animal Health and Welfare Division runs a series of key stakeholders meetings. Remit of the group To maximise benefit, the relationship between the Executive and Stakeholders should be a reciprocal one with an emphasis on openness and communication. On its part, the Executive hopes for stakeholders to provide practical and other advice to the department in formulating animal health and welfare policy and its implementation. Therefore the remit is: 1. To allow the industry to raise issues of concern 2. To maintain industry and government links 3. To encourage communication within the industry 4. To allow stakeholders an opportunity to have an input into policy formation and implementation Stakeholder Group Membership The following groups are all members of the Animal Health and Welfare Stakeholder Group. COSLA (Convention of Scottish Local Authorities) IAAS (Institute of Auctioneers & Appraisers) National Beef Association NFU Scotland NSA (National Sheep Association) Moredun Research Institute QMS (Quality Meat Scotland) RHA (Road Haulage Association) SAMW (Scottish Association of Meat Wholesalers) SAC (Scottish Agricultural College) Scottish Beef Council Scottish Crofting Foundation Scottish Federation of Meat Traders' Associations SLF (Scottish Landowners Federation) SSPCA (Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals)
Chris Little Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 Good post Bruno So what are the SHU doing I wonder , as a matter of interest there is no mention of the RSPB either Chris
Henrik Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 Wouldnt think so as if Linda or John Barlow had been invited to go they would have been there.
Guest Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 Would say it wasn't a club 'membership by invitation only' but more of a requirement that pigeon interests be properly represented by Union membership of the Stakeholder group. Would also expect that there is a group for each of the animal health departments in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Eire. And there is a Standing Committee (on Food) at EU level too....
Guest Doostalker Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 Bruno, I think you will find that this is a club the membership of which is by invitation only. Look at who else is not on it. I think that this is aimed at teh really serious players in the agricultural world.
