Nice Birds!!  Do rollers have to set out like racers? and do they roll the first few times they fly?  I've seen older ones but never y.b.    Thanks  jimbobboy

Young rollers won't roll instantly, and they tend to tail ride before they somersault.   It usually takes a few months for young birds to roll.  I have some  young show rollers out flying and some of them have started  to roll, one is doing a series of somersaults at one time.  :)

It wouldn't do the rollers any good flying them with racers. If they get into the habit of flying fast they would become less frequent in the roll.

... sorry i meant would there be any advantage for the racers? got one in the loft just now (unrung) that wandered in one day, so i gave it a perch for the night and now it has made itself at home... let it out with my team of 16 latebreds and it climbs quite high above the racers then drops down, seen it roll for first time yesterday... very good to watch.

...that thought had occured to me! the little sh*t always dives in food tin then first to hopper... traps through stall trap no bother!
