Oh I was thinking of something diffrent when I read the post. A pure strain is the mating of to like birds from the same family of birds. I figure after you have had them and crossed them out the strain is new and would be named after who ever they were from.

I do not think there is such a thing as a PURE strain of pigeon as all top flyers have paired best to best for years no matter what strain the birds come from.

the way i see it the word ' Breed ' refers to a particular type ie; tipler ,tumbler etc , the word' Strain' is a blend  one or more of lines of a particular fanciers pigeons ,with that of another  ? a' Familly ' of pigeons i beleive to be the result a colection of pigeons all being related to an individual pigeon or base pair of pigeons cultivated by line breeding or inbreeding ? as for  'Pures' i agree with the rest of you ....ray

but seriously there is no such thing as a sprain, sorry strain ;D ;D ;D in my opinion,

there are good pigeons, there are bad pigeons there, are good fanciers , there are bad fanciers, get the combination right, and your there   [ well allmost ;D ;D]
