Speck :-/?
square_peg Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 JUST SEEN FORECAST LOOKS LIKE LOTS OF RAIN UP HERE
Guest Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 From Met Office:- Valid for Sat 13 May 2006 to Mon 22 May 2006 Scotland and Northern Ireland may start unsettled, especially northern parts of Scotland, with spells of heavy rain or showers. Most other areas, perhaps much of Northern Ireland and southern Scotland too, should see sunny spells to start with, but with some daytime showers developing. Low cloud and mist could plague many coasts. During the period southern areas are likely to see a few thundery showers developing, spreading northeastwards for a time, although all areas are likely to see some sunny spells too. Coastal mist is likely to continue over southern areas. The temperatures will start rather warm to warm inland, but cooler in the far north, and with little change expected later in the period. Mostly light to moderate breezes will prevail, although perhaps a little windier at times in the northwest. BBC Weather 5 Day Forecast is a little different. Being pictures rather than words, simply shows (for Saturday) Sunny Intervals, with wind again in the North, heavy rain Monday. Reckon the heavy stuff is the far north of Scotland (again). Our Fed will cancel Friday basketing if there's no chance of a race Saturday. Personally, hadn't thought there was a problem for Saturday ... now I wonder? ??)
speedbird Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 weather does look dodgy showers/light rain at 90% with west wind down south turning to north/west further north weather i saw yesterday for the weekend looked good but on here very little chance!!! saying that look at last week looking at the forecast there was no chance & think most had a good race!! if the wather looks bad for sat our club will cxl & basket sat for a sunday race if weather looks better
Guest Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 hey mike ill belive it when i see it i remember what you said last week!! on a serious note though they had forcast a west south west wind now theres a lot of north in it with east coming in further up country.
PIGEON_MAN Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 if the wather looks bad for sat our club will cxl & basket sat for a sunday race if weather looks better IT AMAZES ME THAT SOME CLUBS AND FEDS JUST CANCEL RACES ON THE STRENGH OF WHAT AFTER ALL IS A GUESS AT WHAT THE WEATHER IS LIKELEY TO BE LIKE AT THE WEEKEND,WHAT HAPPENS ABOUT THE FACT THAT RACEPOINTS HAVE TO BE BOOKED WEEKS BEFORE WITH THE RPRA,I CAN NEVER REMEMBER OUR FED EVER CANCELLING A RACE BECAUSE OF A WEATHER FORCAST,I DO REMEMBER THEM BRINGING THEM BACK WHEN IT SUDDENLEY SNOWED AND THIS WAS AT THE BEGINNING OF MAY.
slatey Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 pigeon man we canceled last week yes we dropped a bo**ock but thats the way it goes at the end of the day we think about pigeons/fed/members the way the weather looked on thus tea time you would not have got a race then we have to inform club secs for them to let the members know because we wouldnt have been able to let all members know in time on friday. friday dinner time it changed the weather again too late. would we do it again you bet we would i think more about my pigeons than having one race
speedbird Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 IT AMAZES ME THAT SOME CLUBS AND FEDS JUST CANCEL RACES ON THE STRENGH OF WHAT AFTER ALL IS A GUESS AT WHAT THE WEATHER IS LIKELEY TO BE LIKE AT THE WEEKEND,WHAT HAPPENS ABOUT THE FACT THAT RACEPOINTS HAVE TO BE BOOKED WEEKS BEFORE WITH THE RPRA,I CAN NEVER REMEMBER OUR FED EVER CANCELLING A RACE BECAUSE OF A WEATHER FORCAST,I DO REMEMBER THEM BRINGING THEM BACK WHEN IT SUDDENLEY SNOWED AND THIS WAS AT THE BEGINNING OF MAY. we dont cxl the race we just delay the race for 1day to stop a hold over!!!
PIGEON_MAN Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 HOW BY DELAYING THE RACE ARE YOU STOPPING A HOLD OVER HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE WEATHER IS GOING TO BE LIKE ON THE SUNDAY.WHAT HAPPENS THEN IF THE WEATHER LOOKS DOUBTFULL FOR SAT.AND SUNDAY THEN DO YOU CANCEL THE RACE ALL TOGETHER OR TAKE A CHANCE.
