mosslands Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 calm down lad your pigeons will get used to all the noise ect
Guest Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 There are two ways of looking at it. They are old people who are retired who want a nice quiet life, and may not be big fans of pigeons (as a lot of people aren't) in which case you are knackered, because they have rights. Or you can look at it from a pigeon mans perspective, who wants to enjoy his hobby and also has certain rights (if you bought a house without any clauses in you deeds) to enjoy his hobby. In my case I didnt ask my neighbours B4 I put the lofts up, as I thought this may put doubts in their mind. Instead I put the lofts up and have tried to make them fit in the surroundings by painting them green to blend in with my fence etc. And so far no-one has battered an eye-lid or complained. If they were to have been an out-cry initially I would have moved them back down to an allotment. But if you have annoyed someone with dogs barking etc then they are going to be p-ssed off, so again you are knackered. The best you can do is to keep your lofts/garden spotless and your dogs quiet and if they continue, go round and talk to them, then if they carry on you have the right to take photos and complain etc. One other thing, I do get the odd football being kicked in the air and kids playing in near by gardens but the birds have to get used to it. THE FIFER Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 I THINK U SHOULD REPORT THEM TO UR LOCAL COUNCIL AS THERE ARE A LOT OF NEW LAWS REGARDING TROUBLE FROM NEIGHBOURS ETC, OT EVEN THE POLICE, THEY CAN BE TAKEN UP FOR UNSOCIAL BEHAVOUR, I WOULD HAVE A WORD WITH THEM, U ARE ENTITLED BY LAW TO HAVE PIECE IN UR HOME, THE ONLY PROBLEM IS PIGEONS ARE NOT IN THE LIMELIGHT AT THE MOMENT, THE OTHER ONE IS UR UNION rpra OR WHICHEVER UR IN THEY SHOULD GIVE U SUPPORT AND ADVICE, ALL THE BEST,
tam pepper Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 hi barry , why not tet your dog and your birds out when you are at home this would solve your problem

Guest Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 Or you could play them at their own game, if they chuck water at your birds, turn the hose pipe on them and what ever they through at your birds throw it back at them, see how they enjoy it LOL. Only as a last ditch attempt though . ;D
Guest shadow Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 Barry a lot depends on whether there is a covenant in the deeds to your house which prohibits the keeping of poultry etc as unfortunatley councils look on pigeons as being in the same catargory as poultry.
barry peach Posted March 31, 2006 Author Report Posted March 31, 2006 i have permission from council i made sure i got it just phoned rspca again i done it last year hopefully will stop i cant put water over them thay can do me 4 that but not 4 my dog or birds i hope no 1 eles have this im realy fed up
Diamond dave Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 Barry, just a thought, -can you change the times you let the birds out ?
Guest Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 If I were in our shoes Barry I would be trying to contact the family of these old farts and stongly suggesting that they put them in a Care home, as they seem to be going a bit senile and acting strangely.
jimmy white Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 YOUD BE BETTER KEEPING THE BIRDS IN UNTIL YOUR THERE, THEN THEY CAN SEE YOU, JUST HOLD A CAMERA IN YOUR HAND AND SAY NOTHING, THEYLL MAYBE GET THE MESSAGE THEN, HOPE SO ANYWAY
Guest Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 Sorry to hear of your problem with the neighbours, Barry. My advice is first make sure that you're squeaky clean. No barking dog(s) at home, and no pigeons out all day ESPECIALLY sitting on house roofs, while you're out working all day. As others advise, let your birds out for exercise only when you are going to be there all the time that they will be out; get yourself a brightly coloured rubber ball and bounce it off the slates if the birds land on the house roof ... they'll soon get the message. If your dog is a barking nyaff, tell it to SHUT UP. Dont retaliate in kind - nae pails o' watter over the fence kinda stuff - that'll just get you board & lodgings for the night / weekend in the local cop shop. Remember that older members of the community usually command sympathy from 'the establishment' (whether or not its warranted). If and when 'your house is in order', don't take any snash at all from these neighbours. Would agree with the Anti Social Behaviour Order, with photos as evidence of what's going on, as the best way to go. And I'd also make a complaint to the Police rather than the RSPCA, so that what's going on (nuisance / threatening behaviour) is made official, and on record.
AlanWilkins Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 Misses works for the council n says if your both council property and if you have permission to keep the birds and they are playing u up contact the housing office and they will step in
hooky Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 my advise is grow a back bone and go knock on there door and explain calmy that there bull sh** must cease imediatly!or you will make it very hard for them to live there life there comfortably...
