Guest jason Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 have you had a bad race or something? I get a little fed up now and again, though I was lost last year without the birds ( I had a year out as we had a baby) and now I'm back keener than ever before. if the birds are getting on top of you, try cutting back a bit (keep fewer) I only have 36 all together 32 young birds and 4 stock birds and I'm loving it. ;D ;D
Guest Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 lol i dont lay in bed im up a 5am everyday.yeah you could be right about the amount of birds to keep.i got around 100 birds now.no i not had a bad race but cant do as much with the birds as i use to coz of back and leg probs my wife do most of the work lol.any how thanks for you thoughts on that.
swilcox Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 Mate In 2003 i gave up pigeons because of family reasons and to be honest for the first 12 months i thought it was the best desicion i ever made, no getting up early, no worries about holidays, holdovers, weekends etc. But when the following spring came around i started to greave for them to the point where i would do anything to have my birds and my lofts back! I now fly in partnership which helps but i will build it all back up one day soon and call it my own!!!! Stuart
Guest bristolkev Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 hi swilcox i went to your sale in paulton and i have say there was fantastic birds 4sale the sad thing was er indoors would`nt let me take my flexible friend with me lol....cheers kev
keano Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 i get fed up with the moaning about north road racing. a good pigeon will come from anywhere. until you test iy you never know.
lordcornwallis Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 mark step back and take it easy pigeons are only a hobby , give youself some time and then if you still feel like the way you feel in a month from now then maybe a break from the birds is what you need . but remember pigeons are supposed to be a relaxation and thats what thay should be, but to some there just an extension to there ego and thats sad . because whats the use of winning ten firsts a year and nearly going bonkers or falling out with your family or having a hart attack because of a pigeon that wont trap so in closing TAKE IT EASY lc
Guest Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 yeah nice one don thanks mate thats been a great help just how i feel somtimes thanks mate
THE FIFER Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 I THINK THE BIG PROBLEM NOW ADAY'S IS KEEPING FAR TOO MANY BIRDS, AND THIS LOOKS LIKE THE PROBLEM WITH BARLBYLOFTS, KEEP TOO MANY U DO NOT KNOW THEM AND HOW MANY OF THEM ARE NO GOOD, A LOT, CUT BACK AND ENJOY THEM, IF U GET GOOD BIRDS U WILL WIN RACES WITHOUT HAVING SO MANY BIRDS.
swilcox Posted June 7, 2006 Report Posted June 7, 2006 Cheers Kev Its sounds like they have done alot of winning for other people, still cant find out where in Ireland my No 1 breeder Pied Producer went? Stuart
rockinrick Posted June 7, 2006 Report Posted June 7, 2006 We all have those 'fed up" days.-- A cock wants ever nest in the loft---Only one egg hatches---tired cleaning nests---- I'm 71 y/o and getting more lazy ever day- after doing the chores around the loft " in 90-100 F temp" I go in the house READY to call another flyer to come get ever feather off my place. BUT get a cup of coffee--lite a cig--complain to the wife-- threaten to pull heads I will most likely have pigeons till I die of OLD AGE haha you took the words outta my mouth don m8 , goodluck as always
jimmy white Posted June 7, 2006 Report Posted June 7, 2006 ;D ;D ;D when youve got them , theres allways the downs but when youve not got them,,,,you want them ;D ;D
Guest Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 sure would miss them if they were gone lol.just angry with myself at the mo as i cant get around like i use to my wife do most well all of the work at the moment untill i had my op.
Chris Little Posted June 14, 2006 Report Posted June 14, 2006 What goes round comes round. Pigeon racing is like a woman, they have good weeks and bad weeks Like everyone else from our patch we are having a difficult season , what keeps us going is the reflections of our past successes and aspirations of the future but ultimately I remind myself it is only a hobby...... not life or death
