Hens lay eggs  :P  ;D  ;D  ;D   ;D  ;D

One method I have read - and used this year is the smiley - frowning bottom theory

This can be done when the birds are in the yellow fuzz stage:

.

1. FACE THE YOUNG BIRD AWAY FROM YOU AT EYE LEVEL BEING VERY CAREFUL FOR PROPELLANT MATTER.

2. CHECK TO SEE IF THE POOP CHUTE ::::: IS SMILING OR FROWNING.

3. THE COCKS SMILE

4. THE HENS FROWN

5. SIMPLE WITH PRACTICE, KEEP A RECORD OF THEM, TIME WILL TELL...!

I have kept a record, but was disappointed initially as I thought method was incorrect, as most of the young birds appeared to be smiling and therefore cocks. I haven't checked back as yet, but judging by the birds as they are in the loft, and the way they are acting, I have 18 cocks and 6 hens with 2 unknowns. VERY disappointing...!!! >:( >:(

hi paul

i am new to the hobby and i have found that the easiest way is to watch their behaivior... the cocks drag their tales on the ground etc. Also they blow their crops up and coo deeper than the hens. Many people tell buy shape of the head. I dont use this method but i think if you feel the head then the hens should have a rounder head than the cocks. apart from the methods i just said their are many others like some people just do it on size(cocks are bigger) but i dont trust this method as i have made many mistakes...

hope this helps...;)

I always go by the length of the two outside toes, when they are put together if the are even it's a hen if they are uneven in length it's a cock.

You can prove this by looking at the index middle and ring finger on a human hand.

also i find that the wattle on a cock is generally bigger than the one of a hen.
