rockinrick Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 anybody finding the heat at the moment in uk is affecting their young birds / old birds ? my ybs are sitting in loft and on roof panting , i have treated for respitory probs but they are still doing it , hence the question is it the weather ? :-/ :-/ :'( :'(
Guest Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 In a word yes Rick, we've had extreme temperatures for 2 weeks now, 100 degree mark and it's definately affecting the birds
NANCYVIEWLOFTS Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 most likely watch the crows when they drop even they are panting
rockinrick Posted July 2, 2006 Author Report Posted July 2, 2006 just noticed one yb is regurgitating this morns feed , the heat must be getting to it alot ?
Guest Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 just noticed one yb is regurgitating this morns feed , the heat must be getting to it alot ? Look out for YBS doing its round early.
rockinrick Posted July 2, 2006 Author Report Posted July 2, 2006 thought of that but already treated for it back in may .
Guest Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 I wouls still keep a close eye on it Rick, as I said we've had extreme temps here and our birds haven't regurgitated any food at all.
Guest Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 Rocking there is no real treatment for YBS only treatment for secondary infections like ecoli. Watch them carefully!!
rockinrick Posted July 2, 2006 Author Report Posted July 2, 2006 yea ure right it pays to keep a check on it so i have sectioned the bird , and hoping ive caught it at 1 bird .
Guest Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 As an extra precaution I would bleach your drinkers out
Matthew Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 rockinrick exactly the same has happened to 1 of my ybs, i tuck them trainin yesterday it was really hot, i only fed them light and this morning there were corn on a perch, i didnt treat it for any thing as i just put it down to the extremely hot and humid weather.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 OURS WON'T BE AFFECTED BY HEAT UP HERE IT'S NOT STOPPED RAINING FOR ABOUT 6 HOURS IT'S THE LACK OF SUN THAT EFFECTS US
frank-123 Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 i took my ybs there first toss from harthill 10 miles great weather at harthill came over the hill on my way back the sky was black 5 mins later the rain just poured from the heavens thunder and lighting could hardly see in front of me got back to the loft to my 34 very wet ybs tucking into some grub i was a very relieved man
Tony C Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 Hot here also Rose, watering the grass at the moment, steams coming off of it ;D ;D
jimmy white Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 get a hose to the length of midlothian, well give you all the water you need ;D ;D ;D i would agree with other posts , the heat will effect them, but they shouldnt regurgitate any food up, i would get the old milton in the water as soon as i fed them, and keep a close eye on them
Guest Posted July 3, 2006 Report Posted July 3, 2006 when birds seem like they are panting this is their way of sweating, just the same as a dog pants when he is hot . they do not sweat like humans.
