anybody finding the heat at the moment in  uk is affecting their young birds / old birds ?

my ybs are sitting in loft and on roof panting , i have treated for respitory probs but they are still doing it , hence the question is it the weather ?

In a word yes Rick, we've had extreme temperatures for 2 weeks now, 100 degree mark and it's definately affecting the birds

just noticed one yb is regurgitating this morns feed , the heat must be getting to it alot ?

 

Look out for YBS doing its round early.

I wouls still keep a close eye on it Rick, as I said we've had extreme temps here and our birds haven't regurgitated any food at all.

Rocking there is no real treatment for YBS only treatment for secondary infections like ecoli. Watch them carefully!!

rockinrick exactly the same has happened to 1 of my ybs, i tuck them trainin yesterday it was really hot, i only fed them light and this morning there were corn on a perch, i didnt treat it for any thing as i just put it down to the extremely hot and humid weather.

i took my ybs there first toss from harthill 10 miles great weather at harthill came over the hill on my way back the sky was black 5 mins later the rain just poured from the heavens thunder  and lighting could hardly see in front of me got back to the loft to my 34 very wet ybs tucking into some grub i was a very relieved man

get a hose to the length of midlothian, well give you all the water you need ;D ;D ;D

i would agree with other posts , the heat will effect them, but they shouldnt regurgitate any food up, i would get the old milton in the water as soon as i fed them,

and keep a close eye on them

when birds seem like they are panting this is their way of sweating, just the same as a dog pants when he is hot . they do not sweat like humans.
