T_T Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 How's training going folks, ? has everything settled down ? I have had 6 tosses this week, ( don't start until 29th July ) and going well even in the heat. Next week twice a day. Do you still train your youngsters when racing starts.?
celtic Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 Mine have had four tosses from 25 miles this wek to hopefully keep them ticking over ok.
Guest Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 Mine did 35 miles today, have been out to 55, 35 miles tomorrow then the big one Saturday 100 miles, had about 35/40 tosses so far
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 DO YOU THINK YOU CAN GIVE YOUNG BIRDS TOO MUCH TRAINING ?
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 AFTER YOU HAVE STARTED RACING HYACINTH ON AVERAGE HOW MANY YOUNG BIRDS WILL YOU LOSE IN THE SEASON ?
Guest Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 I started loft flying on or about May 1st, started out with 67 now have 60 who are coming good. We have a very difficult racecourse here but I hope to have at least 40
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 HOW FAR ARE YOUNG BIRD RACES FOR YOU HYACINTH
Guest Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 Longest race is from Mountain Home Idaho 325 to me, we race that twice
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 I SEE NOW WHY YOU HAVE TO TRAIN THEM AS FAR, I THINK OUR FED RACE IS 145 MILES [THE LONGEST] BUT THE Y/BIRD NATIONAL IS 245 APPROX,WOULD YOU STILL KEEP THE SAME TRAINING REGIME IF YOU WERE NOT RACING AS FAR ?
Guest Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 yes http://www.corpc.org/race-schedule.htm The young bird race schedule is at the bottom of the page
speedbird Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 mine had about 30 tosses started at 5miles now at 50miles coming well beating me home every time & straight down had a few bad tosses which i like as it sorts em out unsure weather to send em all this week as there too many disorientated ybs & thunderstorms forecasted what is other members views on sending all ybs
Chatrace Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 I have dropped from 136 birds to 62 . I had a really bad toss from 35 miles and lost over 40 that day. I'm at the 35 mile drop and will stay thee for a while till I get closer to race season.
Guest jason Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 Mine have had 12 x 25 mile chucks then into first race (today) from stafford 62 miles after that they will have 3 x 60 mile chucks every week (tuesday, wednesday, thursday) and I'll keep doing it through out the season. jason
