hdimensions Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Hey all, I am new to the post and one yr deep into the sport. I am looking for white birds that are out of racers not wedding releases. since I am new I need someone who I can trust and is willing to sell me birds that he/she would race. I don't need culls, seconds to play with. So please if you are willing to invest a little of your time and knowledge contact me. Thank all for your time. Yours in the sport. Steve

Guest TAMMY_1 Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 THERE HAVE BEEN ARTICLES IN THE LAST FEW YEARS WHERE THEY CLAIMED THAT THE WHITE FEATHERS ACTUALLY DISTRACTED HAWKS, I KNOW I READ IT BUT CAN,T REMEMBER WHEN EXACTLY BECAUSE IT WAS DONE AS SOME KIND OF EXPERIMENT AND THEY FOUND OUT THAT THE BIRDS WITH WHITE FEATHERS WERE THE LEAST AMMONT OF BIRDS KILLED BY HAWKS AND THE TEST STARTED OUT WITH THE EQUAL AMMOUNT OF COLOURED BIRDS AND AT THE END OF THE TEST WAS WHEN THEY FOUND OUT THE BIRDS WITH WHITE FEATHERS WERE THE ONES THAT HAD BEEN ATTACKED THE LEAST.I MIGHT BE WRONG BUT I THINK JOHN HARWOOD WAS EITHER INVOLVED IN THIS TEST OR IT WAS HIM THAT WROTE ABOUT BUT I AM NOT DEFINATE ABOUT THIS
Guest Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 Experience has taught people that Hawks will select a target that really stands out from the flock. If you're flying a team of chequers and bars with a couple of white birds, the hawk will go for the white birds, if you are flying a team of white birds with a couple of bars or chequers in they will go for them as they stand out from the flock.
