Guest Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 ohhh west south west wind forcast for tomorrow as well!
Guest Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 hi gezza m8, looks likely it will be a hard race this w/end.i can just imagine wots coming...loses. jus learned lastnite our fed has levied us all £25 towards payment of our new transporter lorry, we have the new geraldy type trailers....we all have already been paying an xtra £1 a week to cover the cost....but i spose we have to pay it. we must have the best trailiers in racing that hasnt been used and stuck in the compound where its kept.... 2 trailers birdage of 7000 and 3000.and now new lorry,s for them.
Guest Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 £25! Thats nothing, ours buying a new trailer next year, going to cost each member about £235 each plus fed fees of £95!!!! so count yourself lucky!
Guest Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 our fed had a grant towards the cost ,,these trailiers are brand new, think we had a grant of nearly £100 grand.....but we have to cover a short fall of £10,000..im sure ur fed will get a grant towards the cost. we was told it was gonna cost ur...£340 each member at 1st.
Guest Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 What is this national playing at letting the birds go at 12.35 when flyers in the north are flying 245miles? ok the north may only send 200 birds maybe even less, but we pay the same fees as anybody else and surley we should be taken into consideration? and they wonder why so many young birds are been lost?
Guest Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 hiya m8,my club here clocked 5.52pm..but heard one further south around 5.30..195mls to us here....a few flyers in my club were birds down ..but speaking to one today he said that his missing birds pilled in this morning. as i have no birds...i was at the club winners loft..best m8,and he had 6 in about 8-10 mins. must have been hard on north birds because of the wind direction.also showers.
TERRY JOHNSON Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 If you mean they were liberated at 12-35 today then you could have a good but hardish race, I have just driven from Whitstable to Ramsgate and although the wind appears to be light sw the visability is absolutely brilliant. Good luck to everyone. How you boys get birds into the North of Wales & Anglesey with that terrain amazes me.
TERRY JOHNSON Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 just seen invincibles post I assume the race was yesterday then!!!!!. How did you get on?

Guest Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 i never sent, but there were only around 5- 6 birds home last night, one bloke i no sent 25 only had 2, have heard of a few making there way through this morning, but what gets me anoyed is you get people saying, oh there are 8,000 birds going into south wales, we not worried about a few hundred going up north, well they should be like i said before we pay exactly the same and should be taken into consideration.
Guest Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 when there is a south wind the north comes off better...especially if there is a strong southerly. but unfortunately for the north, most winds are northerly or westerly.which keeps the birds from u. for the national to be more fairer, then the lib site would have to be further north a little...but then the south will complain that in a south wind the north has an advantage, so which ever way, someone has a harder race.i know it seems its unfair but i know how u feel , our club in abergavenny is the most northerly club in the wnrfed..and we got a mountain for the birds to go over/around. yet this yr in youngbirds we have topped the fed in 3 of the 8 races . which incidently was a race with south in it. when there is a north wind on a national we can kiss a good position goodbye.
Guest Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 dont mind the race points its just the fact that they liberated so late on when they would have known that the birds would have had to work hard to make it by night fall.
