sstarted with 10 and have five left. 2 lost training 2 from 75mile race and one off loft after it had been raced. have to admit to being a little confused at why so many are bred

its been like that for a few years now,,,,",the annual slaughter of the innocents"

THIS IS A WELL KNOWN SAYING JIMMY BUT WHO WAS THE MAN THAT ORIGINALLY SAID THAT I THINK IT WAS IN A BOOK

Darkness y/birds have 24/26, hens went to every race bar one, cocks had four races.

Natural y/bs have 13/19 these had two races.

why worry about the ones that have been lost its the ones tht are in the shed at the end of the season tht are the good ones.

ARE YOU SAYING THAT ALL THE BIRDS THAT GET LOST ARE NO GOOD ?

Posted

started with 36 ended up with 17 all but 4 went to every race so could have been worse still upsets me to lose them though i dont know about you but i like to keep them when raced and then i make the selection at the end of the season sounds like many of us wont have that luxury this year

AT THE END OF THE SAESON I NEVER GET RID OF ANY YOUNG BIRDS NO MATTER HOW MANY I HAVE BECAUSE I FIND IT DIFFICULT TO PICK ANY TO DISPOSE OF BECAUSE IF THAT WAS THE CASE GETTING RID OF WHAT WERE NOT BRILLIANT YOUNG BIRD RACERS I WOULD HAVE GOT RID OF SOME OF THE BEST BIRDS I HAVE BECAUSE NOT ALL Y/B THAT RACE ARE GREAT AS YEARLINGS AND ITS THE SAME THE OTHER WAY ROUND SOME THAT RACE FAIR AS Y/B TURN OUT TO BETTER YEARLINGS SO WHEN THE TIME FOR ME TO SORT THEM OUT IS AFTER THEY HAVE RACED AS YEARLINGS BUT EVEN THIS CAN BE WRONG BECAUSE I KNOW MEN WHO WON WITH BIRDS THAT WERE NOT UP TO SCRATCH UNTILL THEY WERE TWO OR THREE YEARS OLD

I THINK YOU SHOULD KEEP THEM TILL THEY ARE 3 YEAR OLD IF THEY HAVE NOT PUT UP ANY GOOD RACES THEN THEY MUST GO THEY HAVE TO GO TO THE LONGERS IN LAND RACE AS YEARLINGS THEN AS 2 YEAROLDS THEY GO TO ONE OF THE CHANEL RACES

AGREE RAB AS I WILL BET THERE WAS A LOT OF POTENTIALLY GOOD BIRDS DISPOSED OF BECAUSE THEY NEVER DID WELL AS YOUNG BIRDS AND MEN DID NOT WANT TO KEEP THEM ANY LONGER

best channel pigeon ive got went missing from a race on the 20/8/04 as a yb returned in late october that year, this year he's won me over £2000 racing including 1st lancashire nantes 2 bird lessay, only 2 birds on the day and beating the 2nd bird by an hour and half, imo sometimes that mistake makes them........
