Alf_Rothwell Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 My apologies Paul, I hit the A instead of the O. Yes I did hear from John Jackson last year that the allotment holders had to get off to make way for some new houses, I can remember when I started up I had a Blue Cock and Hen only and I used to race in our local Novices club, You had to take the rubber off the bird and run to the Post Office, first one there won. Many a time you were running down the bank from the top allotments when you saw someone runing up from the bottom allotments and you pushed yourself to your limits to get there. Great Times. Alf R
Guest Paulo Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Its easy man anybody can do it whose reasonably fit. I'm that out of shape at the minute I look like a heavyweight fat wrestler than a thai boxer here's a piccie of me in my prime having a charity match for a girl suffering from cancer. It was a good laugh.
Guest Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Paulo, There are all sorts of things I can't get here, the main one being Oxo cubes, my son brought me a load over one year and the Customs guy took them, they're frightened of mad cow disease. Jimmy White risked a federal offence and sent me some disguised in an ointment box, oh the joy of it roast beef and PROPER gravy We can get pot noodles but I really miss my Bassetts Licquorice All sorts, a good pint of beer from the pump, what I wouldn't give for a pint of Stella, Walkers Crisps, Kali and a little stick of spanish, a good kebab, a tandoori mixed grill with a vindaloo sauce. and a good old English Sunday Dinner. Now I'm really getting hungry lol
Guest Paulo Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 It was a totally lucky kick that caught him off balance he tried to do a fancy reverse spinnibg kick so I push kicked him up the bum and he went staright over lol. I'll try and get to the show it will be good to have a bit crack on
Guest Paulo Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Tell your a northern lass lol, I'm having a right chuckle here I can just imagine poor jimmy getting dragged away in handcuffs for oxo smuggling. You can't beat a good sundays dinner with yorkshire pubs. Hey at least you get the sun thro lol its hoying down here
Keepsmilingqueen Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 You lucky thing CS !!! my dad used to go over to belgium once a year and bring back a youngen or 2 he brought back jet black ones once they were lovely i think the strain was called archie lewis, they did quite well and won a few cards but alas my dad was prone to change pigeons as oftern as underwear, if they didnt win immediatly he used to get rid !! which was a shame as he oftern didnt give them a fair trial. havent the importation rules regarding bringing birds to the uk become tighter since avian flu scare ?? sharron
Guest CS Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Sharron, I think the birds will be ok to bring back from Belgium, if yes so i will buy some youngsters..if u wanna some to buy then i'll get some for ya.
Guest Paulo Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Thats ok Alf just thought you thought I was a girl lol my gran would be right offended if you asked her how her paulas doing next time you bump into her. I was going to watch my mate eddie green, birds back next week and my gran started getting all nolgsitic I joked on that I prob wouldn't be able to get the T3 to work so I would have to run to the nearest loft and beg them to use her clock. So she started telling me us young uns have it easy and told me about having to run to the clocks. I bet your guys built some speed up running down bannerman bank. Its stopping at the bottom that would be the hard bit. Its a shame hopefully John and the guys will get sorted out somehow. I know the NEHU is trying to help them all out and they are in meetings with the council. I still have some of my dads old birds like but could kick myself as have had them as pets other the years and haven't bothered breeding many off there I have wasted some good pigeons. Still on my way now and have got some more pigeons to go with them from people off here and am looking forward to my first season.
Guest Paulo Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 There you go Sharon sorted. Think the rules should be ok people are still importing birds as far as I'm aware and haven't they relaxed things a bit cause pigeons are low risk compared to chickens etc?
Guest CS Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 I will find out in a few months to see if it ok for me to bring the birds from Belgium , Paulo and Sharon....
Guest Paulo Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 Should be a good trip for you. See someone from the northeast east was arrnaging trips to kassel pigeon show in germany.
