Guest Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 Its a know fact in our fed, esp with y/b's , if they lib after 10am we will get a bad race pigeons clashing etc. as we are crossing everything north and south
dandydoo Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 The Birds should be liberated to suit the Birds and the weather conditions ...If the Transporter doesnt get on site till say 1 or 2 in the Morning (yes it happens) then you need time to settle and water etc. Secondly you cant stop a Horse cos you want see it or you cant change a Golf Tourney to suit folk working on Saturdays ...sorry Guys I have to work and miss things ...you knew the score ...just the way the cookie crumbles ...without being harsh ...tough but :o
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 KNEW YOU WOULD HAVE TO GET A HORSE IN IT SOMEWHERE
dandydoo Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 Well they wont stop a Horse race cos one of the Owners cant make it ..... its crap but it must always be the race not the individual and of course the Birds welfare
Pompey Mick Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 I am sorry to say that if it is left to most convoyers discretion it will ALWAYS be better in the morning. It is a fact that early morning libs have become a way of life since the advent of road transport. In my early years, the Solent Fed liberated for the birds to arrive at approx no earlier than 14.00 hrs, this seemed to work perfectly well, I can't remember vast numbers of holdovers and it gave fanciers that work Saturdays (and there are some) time to get home, see to the birds and have a bit of lunch before the birds arrive home. Early libs have the drawback that when the birds are delayed at a short distance racepoint due to inclement weather you are tied to the loft in case you miss the birds. Also, I feel the earlier the lib the more chance you have of losing YBs because they have anything up to 16 hrs flying on the day and you don't see any of them on the loft the next day.
