Guest anthony Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 To day is a very rainy one I was suppose to go tossing my birds.I am not going,I do not like to toss not even if the sun is coverd with clouds. My son do not agree with me and says that pigeons has to be tossed in every type of weather.Do you agree?
Wiley Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 aldepends how bad the weather is mate, what are you training late breds??
Guest CS Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Depends how bad the weather over there in Malta, but i wouldn't take birds to train in the heavy rain / Too foggy...
Guest Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Anthony, I tend to toss my birds in all sorts of weather conditions, they can meet all sorts of unexpected weather when they are racing, so my theory is "If they have to race in it they have to be trained it it" I do draw the line if the rain to too hard or if there's fog.
jimmy white Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 my way of tossing was to toss them well in good weather then toss them in fairly dodgy weather when they were fit and had experience [ but theres a fine line ]
Guest coxy Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 i toss my birds most weathers m8 think of it on race day u neva knw what they will hit on the way up and if they aint used to it ur screwd
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 get them up in the air who dares wins YOU GOT ANY LEFT ?
THE FIFER Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 get them up in the air who dares wins yes and if the poor controller does so he gets h---l then axed.
Chatrace Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 As Ybs I think they should see the sun before they are tossed. As Yearlings I'm not as fussy as they have more knolege and have seen cloudy days. If it is going to be a bad no sun day I just let them loft fly and get used to the bad weather
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 yes and if the poor controller does so he gets h---l then axed. CORRECT :)
Guest Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 yes and if the poor controller does so he gets h---l then axed. wrong :'( :'( :'(
ALF Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 I'VE TOSSED THE DOOS IN TORRENTIAL RAIN AND THUNDER AND LIGHTENING AND BOTH TIMES THEY BEAT ME HOME AND WERE ALL THERE ;) ONCE I ARRIVE AT THE TRAINING POINT IT DOES'NT MATTER TO ME WHAT THE WEATHER IS LIKE AS LONG AS THE VISABILITY IS OK UP THEY GO ;D ;D ;D TRUST ME PIGEONS ARE VERY HARDY CREATURES AS LONG AS YOU GIVE THEM A CHANCE AND GIVE THEM A GOOD START THEY'LL BE FINE..................
birdman55678 Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Don't toss them when there is thunder or lightning, heavy rain, snow or fog.
Guest Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Agree Ed, but you'll ave to get them raincoats and wellies now you're flying in Washington State, the rain capital of the USA :o :o :o :o
Guest Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 I've flown them in the snow when I lived up in WA, didn't do them any harm at all and I've had birds come in from the longer races when you couldn't see the end of the yard for fog
Guest anthony Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 Thanks for that, to day I went to toss the birds, cloudy and showers on the road back.seems like they enjoy it found them as if having a bath in the rain, all with thier wings open
Guest Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 I prefer decent days for training, at the start of their training anyway, especially for young birds. Agree with others that once the birds are experienced and fit, then less than perfect days are OK. Think visibility temperature and wind would be the factors deciding whether they go down the road or stay in the loft. And providing the rain isnt coast to coast, there will always be a way round it.
birdman55678 Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 Linda just before I wean my youngbirds I fit them with raingear and boots, this year they won't need the boots though as they now seem to be acquiring webbed feet... Ed
Williedoo Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 Years ago a airisol spray called Rainmac was on sale. If rain was forcast for the race on Saturday you were supposed to spray the pigeons flights on Friday night when basketing to make them waterproof. Would you beleave I know people who bought it. I do not think you can buy a product like that now (or can you ) I wonder why.
Wiley Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 wouldnt suprise me at all mate alot of people will do and buy alot of things to win.The old saying goes to win it doesnt come out of a bottle
