I've known for a while that there's been stuff in the garden affecting my birds and I had thought I'd got rid of all the no-nos, now from the pic in the link below I think this is the major weed that I've got. I had thought it was a type of clover and although individual plants are easy to pull out by the roots, it has invaded my grass [can't call it a lawn, there's now more of this than there is grass  :)  ] and although I've used lawn weedkiller and verdone weedkiller, it just doesn't have any affect on this stuff.

Don't fancy diesel etc  ;D    ... as well as the  pigeons, I've a pair of blackies and robins resident in the garden... Any environmentally-friendly ideas on how to get rid of it?

sodium chlorate will kill most weeds , but could be harmfull to birds until washing away,, mixed sodium chlorate with sugar at bonfire time for g kids,, doesnt half give off some bright burning flame,, but what was left , some kind of charcoal i guess, but the birds ate at this spot with relish for such a long time that there was actualy a hole where they were picking , but never did the birds any harm
