Guest Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 hi , our fed has bought two large geraldy trailers(expected birdage of 9000) and just wondered if anyone has been using these kind of crates and wot kind of wear and tear they take, ???.........paul
Pompey Mick Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 The Solent Fed has had a Geraldy Transporter for a couple of seasons, the crates are aluminium with a perspex flap, they seem to be wearing quite well. The drinker is full length along the back, with dowels, and fitted to the crate. There was talk of altering the perspex fronts to allow better airflow when the sides are up, but it was decided not to. We use corrugated cardboard with a light dressing of coarse sawdust. It is recommended to have the corrugations at right angles to the flap as the cardboard can 'ride up' and block the exit if laid the other way.
Guest Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 cheers m8, we been using that cardboard for a few seasons with a sprinkling of sand. the wooden crates we been using have seen better days.thanks for the info ....paul
PIGEON_MAN Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 Hi Paul,i believe i saw the two transporters a few weeks ago at the show down in caerphilly very nice to,i wouldn,t think the crates would stand a lot of knocking about being aluminium they will easily get dented and over the years a bit dis coloured.the cscfc have been using these for a few years now and i believe they are stil o.k.so i would think everything will be allright with them.
Guest Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 yea think that was the feds show, thanks a lot tony m8 .....paul
