symbro Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 you all call red bars-mealys and red checks-reds?
ALF Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 NOT TO SURE WHAT YOU MEAN BY RED BARS MY FRIEND BUT WE DO CALL RED CHECKS REDS YES ;) ;)
symbro Posted December 10, 2006 Author Report Posted December 10, 2006 there are barred birds... red bars, blue bars and brown bars (brown is rare)
birdman55678 Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 Here the Red bared birds are often called Mealys among the racing pigeon fancy, but not in the show birds. I have heard the actual color is brown carrying the "T" pattern. Red checks I have always heard called that, where the solid reds are mostly call recessive reds (meulemans). Ed
symbro Posted December 11, 2006 Author Report Posted December 11, 2006 yes recessive red is a colour modifier. recessive red could be any of the three base colours (red, blue, brown) with any of the patterns. Brown is just a colour it has nothing to do with the pattern: T-pattern, which is a really dark check.
