Guest Paulo Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 Anybody else all hyped up about breeding yet? Everytime I go into my loft I find myself picking a bird up and thinking if I stick you with her what little champs will you knock out

Guest TAMMY_1 Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 GREAT TIME OF THE YEAR PAULO WHEN YOU ARE PAIRING UP BUT FAR TOO EARLY FOR ME , ANOTHER TIME OF YEAR YOU GET GOING IS WHEN THE RACING IS GETTING NEARER AND NEARER
Guest Paulo Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 11th jan when I pair up mate the yb's I breed for you will be in feb through as I know its the time you like pairing up
Roland Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 Yeah, start about end of March ... but have them on paper partners, altered regular till they go down first week in April.
bill_bennie Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 Boy I'm envious. Very much like Roly, paper partners till the middle of February. On the other hand over here I'm waiting for the lake across the road to freeze up. They call it "The Ice Fishing Capitol of the World". It's going to get 18 to 24 inches thick, we can actually drive a car across it when we go Ice fishing. To pair them up now all I would look forward to is constantly changing the drinkers for the next 2-3 months as sometimes the birds will only get about 10 minutes before the ice starts to form on the water. If not carefull young in the nest sometimes get a chill on their extremites (wing tips) and you can say goodbye to their racing career. Oh well....it's nice to see how you guys over there are making out, and I wish you all the best.
Sajfos Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 Very Best Wishes to Yourself & Your Family Bill.. You have been a Great Pal... Hope Tony & Yourself have another Season like 2006 next Year. Steve & Family .
Roland Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 Good to see you on here Bill ... well anywhere really lol. I nearly got to the last convention and Pikle Lake awards etc. Am next year, Joyce has told me to start saving lol,
Guest Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 Yes much like yourselves: see them on paper, or catch sight of them together in loft and wonder ... what'll they throw? Chop & change many times before pairing them up. We plan to start racing earlier in 2007 so looks like they'll be paired earlier too, Friday 2nd or 9th Feb, on paper of course.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 11th jan when I pair up mate the yb's I breed for you will be in feb through as I know its the time you like pairing up THAT WOULD BE IDEAL FOR ME PAULO

Guest Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 DO YOU NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WHEN YOU NEED TO GET THE YOUNG ONES OUT AS EARLY IN THE YEAR WEATHER WISE, THATS ONE OF THE PROBLEMS UP HERE THE DARKNESS AND THE WEATHER AND IT MUST BE WORSE FOR THOSE REALLY UP NORTH LIKE HJALTLAND Not really What I do early season is only have the widowers out in the morning until the clocks change, so the youngsters can have the afternoon period. Then when the clocks change the widows are on twice a day and the youngsters are usually on open hole.
Guest Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 Forgot if the weather is bad they don't go out till but it is usually dry enough in february. Just a bit cold. The upside is that by the time my widowers are into their proper training regime the youngsters are old enough to split. So I can exercise my young cocks with the widowers and they help to keep the old ones in the sky for longer especially if they go off.
Guest Paulo Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 still deciding what to put with what!!!!!!!!!! Got some advice off Stevebelbin what to pair his too but haven't got a scooby about the others will have to con the old man into coming down the loft and then lock the gate until he picks the pairs
