Nah mate.  Didn't send.  Way too far for me.  Was a very bad race. Let em go too late-  1 bird home on the day..

Mike L ... are you referring to the 2005 saintes race? That was a six-day hold ... liberated on a Friday?

No - Mcc had 9 day hold...  I think anyway !!   99.999% sure it was 9 days

I remember the NFC Nantes may years ago when they were held to the following Thursday and the opinion was they just as well liberated on the Saturday. Birds escaped on the original day and made it back to their lofts which didn't help. The late Freddy Mellis of Portsmouth got one of the escapees back in good time on the Saturday.

Remember years back the then Coalville fed held at Lerwick. The convoyer was breaking up coal and bricks to get the birds some minerals. Can't say how long held for but returns were good
