I can see why that could be a good idea Gareth the SNFC and INFC liberating together out of France but I don't think if would be passed this end of the pond, although I might be wrong. The fanciers in Southern Ireland and the shorter fliers in the north I can't see agreeing with it because they would probabally feel that if their birds where with the Scottish birds they would be somewhat off line as their birds really need to be flying up the Welsh coast to be competitive.

THE 2 IRISH PROPOSALS IN MY OPINION ARE NON STARTERS, 1: IS THERE A REQUEST FROM THE IRISH FOR SNFC TO CONVOY WITH THEM? ANSWER NO.   THE IRISH DONT WANT A CHANCE OF THEIR BIRDS BEING PULLED PAST WALES AND INTO SCOTLAND AND LIKE WISE WE DONT WANT THE CHANCE OF OURS IN IRELAND, WHICH HAPPENS SOME TIMES WHEN FLYING OURSELVES FROM NEWBURY OR MAIDSTONE WITHOUT THE DRAG OF THE IRISH. REMEMBER A FEW YEARS AGO THE IRISH LOST A LOAD OF GOOD PIGEONS WHEN FORCED TO FLY OUT OF SCOTLAND.

2: WHY RACE A LINE OF FLIGHT ALL SEASON THEN SUDDENLY CHANGE FOR ONE RACE, A SURE SIGN OF DISASTER FOR THE SEASONED SNFC PIGEONS AS HAPPENED TO A LOT OF THEM WHEN TURNED FURTHER EAST INTO BELGIUM FOR 1 SEASON. ALSO THE COST FOR A 300 MILE RACE WILL BE A HELL OF A LOT MORE THAN GOING DOWN THE MOTORWAY. IM ALL FOR PROGRESS BUT THIS IN MY OPINION ISNT & THE NATIONALS IN MY OPINION SHOULD BE FROM FRANCE WHERE THE DRAG ISNT SO CONSISTENT, NOT INLAND.

I think it is the same as all the other races if the weather is good you have a good chance of a successful race, whether it will get passed at the agm i have my doubts, but i would be inclined to give a go as Chris has said it is a new challenge.

PS

I thought it was an interesting proposal for the SNFC agm about the SNFC looking into racing along with the INFC out of the longest race from France. :-/

gareth your dad george should be able to tell you about skibbereen as he must

have raced from there when he raced in n.ireland

Greengrass :- yes the race from Belguim could be classified as been a successful race as there was 5 regions of the 7 regions in the first 7 birds in the open. I believe the returns was not that great but that is standard when in comes to 500 mile races. I think the wind was west south west which probuary pushed the birds well out into the water?.

Ticeye :-  Since i was a wee boy (hard to believe i know) dad has told me about all the hard hard races from Skibbereen that they used to get when he raced in Co Down, many a race where thier was only one bird in the shift.
