Roland Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 I was replying to a post when I got carried away, and then realised that I was of the thread, so decided to start a new thread. Never mind if no one agrees, or bothers to reply, as most obviously see things differently. Which again, mostly, in itself is normally good for any concern? Vic replied to a post as such in regards 'Prize Money Although our wonderful sport abounds with genuine pigeon folk, always beware of the small minority, who think of nothing else but money. FULL STOP, and are unfortunately driving good members away from it. Vic. My sentiments exactly. I'd go further and say that they actually mould the future to their own thoughts and desires. Again sadly and not mostly for the betterment of the sport! That Thatcherism scenario of asking, offering thoughts and question where the answer has to be 'Yes of Course'! And alas alack the implications and reality is so often missed and yet voted for. Yes I race for the 'Buzz, the being around the birds every day. Xmas day wouldn't be the same without seeing them pick around the garden. Always something new to watch or see. And of course the dreams and new hopes, setting new agendas - obviously never kept lol - . And when the majority of fanciers are refreshed with new hope and desires (regardless of the futileness of them) this is where the irons strikes when hot, and voted, altered at the AGM... quickly forgotten, but sorely seen to see the detrimental so often that the new rules, striving brings. Change is good ... id for the betterment of the Sport as a Whole, no two ways about that... if only the hidden agenda, the selfishness, one upmanship was the nucleus of the real reason. So we have to abide and go with the flow if we wish to partake, or speak up and demonstrate to all so often no avail, and be classed as a stirrer. But I don’t mind that, just means many stay shy of expressing their true feeling, which indeed they often may agree with later in retrospect. That’s life I suppose!
